DOXA announced the new SUB 750T Clive Cussler special edition, limited to 94 numbered pieces and available at a price of €2,890
DOXA celebrates its enduring bond with Clive Cussler through a new special edition: the SUB 750T Clive Cussler, the third tribute model dedicated to the celebrated author and explorer, following the commemorative editions of 2023 and 2024.
The launch coincides with what would have been Clive Cussler’s 94th birthday. It also marks the 20th anniversary of Sahara, the film adaptation of his best-selling novel, which premiered on this day in 2005. In the film, Matthew McConaughey’s Dirk Pitt famously wore a DOXA SUB with its bold and unmistakable orange dial.
That moment on screen reflected a bond that had already been forged over decades between the Swiss watchmaker and the best-selling American novelist. Cussler was a passionate shipwreck hunter, founder of NUMA (the National Underwater and Marine Agency), and a lifelong DOXA fan. Over the course of his career, he wrote more than 85 books, sold over 100 million copies, and helped discover or survey around eighty historic shipwrecks with NUMA.
This limited edition of just 94 pieces introduces a slimmer case and a lighter design to the 45 mm SUB collection for the first time.
Crafted from stainless steel, the 45.00 mm x 47.00 mm case of this professional-grade diver’s watch is only 11.95 mm thick. This is almost 2 mm thinner than the first SUB 750T launched 20 years ago and 4.30 mm thinner than the SUB 1500T.
The streamlined profile makes the watch more ergonomic and comfortable on the wrist.
The unmistakable cushion-shaped case features alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces.
It ensures water resistance up to 75 ATM, equivalent to a depth of 750 metres or 2,460 feet, aided by its screw-down crown.
The dial of the SUB 750T Clive Cussler stands out in DOXA’s signature orange, a high-visibility colour forever linked to Clive Cussler and his legendary character Dirk Pitt.
At 7:30, a subtle but meaningful detail appears. The logo of NUMA, the agency Cussler founded to uncover and protect historic shipwrecks, is featured discreetly on the dial.
The date window at 3 o’clock adds another distinctive touch, with numerals 7, 15, and 31 highlighted in orange.
Beneath the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, all dive-related elements, including indexes, hands, and bezel markers, are coated with Super-LumiNova. This ensures excellent readability even in challenging underwater conditions.
The screw-in case back is decorated with a finely engraved compass rose.
This motif is a recurring element in Cussler’s novels and personal interests, and it reflects his lifelong connection to the sea and exploration.
The SUB 750T Clive Cussler is powered by the Swiss automatic Sellita SW300 movement, finished with DOXA’s signature decorative touches. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it offers reliable performance and a power reserve of approximately 56 hours.
The watch is paired with the signature stainless steel “beads of rice” bracelet, complete with a folding clasp and diving extension. It is also delivered with an additional orange NATO strap featuring a central black stripe. The lug width is 21 mm.
The new DOXA SUB 750T Clive Cussler special edition, limited to 94 numbered pieces, is available now from the brand’s official website at a price of CHF 2,690, €2,890, or US$2,990.
In honour of Clive Cussler’s lifelong commitment to maritime heritage, DOXA will donate a portion of the proceeds from this special edition to NUMA. doxawatches.com
