Panerai marks the renewal of its partnership with Luna Rossa as Official Sponsor of the team, ahead of the 38th America’s Cup, which will be held in 2027 in the city of Naples, with the release of two new Luminor timepieces.

Marking the third America’s Cup campaign in this partnership, both novelties are characterised by 44 mm cases equipped with Panerai’s signature crown-protecting device, grey dials, and bi-material black rubber and grey textile straps featuring the distinctive Luna Rossa red stripe.

The first timepiece is the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653, powered by the hand-wound P.6000 calibre.

Beating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of three days, this movement is particularly robust thanks to its twin bridges supporting the regulator and an Incabloc shock protection system.

PAM01653 is crafted from premium AISI 316LVM – 1.4441 stainless steel. This alloy, known for its strength, undergoes vacuum arc remelting to maximise purity, thereby improving resistance to corrosion. 

Polished and brushed finishes further enhance the timepiece’s design and reflect Panerai’s longstanding watchmaking expertise.

The clean dial layout emphasises legibility and functionality, with the Luna Rossa decal positioned at 6 o’clock and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock enlivened by a red hand.

The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653 has a suggested retail price of €6,700.

The second timepiece is the Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654, a limited edition of 150 pieces crafted in titanium, a material much lighter than steel for enhanced wrist comfort.

Powered by the P.9100 calibre, Panerai’s first automatic movement with chronograph functions, it incorporates a flyback chronograph and a tachymeter scale designed for nautical use. 

This key feature allows the chronograph hands to reset to zero and restart instantly with a single press of the push-button at 8 o'clock (which also resets the hands when the chronograph is stopped).

The pusher is marked with “R” for reset and “F” for flyback, with red lacquered details adding a dynamic flair.

The calibre also features a vertical clutch and column wheel mechanism, with chronograph minutes displayed by a central hand that jumps forward every 60 seconds.

Equipped with two patented mechanisms, the movement delivers a 72-hour power reserve, achieved through twin spring barrels in series. These longer, thinner springs ensure a more consistent and extended energy supply. The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal case back.

The dial of this model features a "sandwich" structure consisting of two superimposed plates. The upper layer has cut-out numerals and indices, offering a partial view of the lower plate treated with white Super-LumiNova X1.

The sub-dials are thoughtfully positioned for balanced symmetry and enhanced readability, while red chronograph hands inject a touch of energy.

The price of the Panerai Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 is €16,900.
