A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date now available in Pink Gold

A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled the Zeitwerk Date in pink gold ref. 148.033, a new interpretation of its mechanical digital watch. Price on request.

A. Lange & Söhne presents the Zeitwerk Date in pink gold, reference 148.033, a new interpretation of its mechanical digital watch with a ring-shaped date display.

First introduced in 2019 in white gold (you can read our hands-on review here and watch our presentation video on our YouTube channel), the Zeitwerk Date is now offered for the first time in the Zeitwerk family with a warm pink gold case paired with a grey dial.

The imposing 44.2 mm × 12.3 mm case alternates satin-brushed and polished surfaces and features a large crown at 2 o’clock, complemented by two rectangular pushers at 4 and 8 o’clock. The first independently advances the hour display, while the second is used to adjust the date indication.

Framed by a polished bezel and protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the elegant light-grey dial is crafted from solid silver. 

The central bridge, actually a part of the movement, is made of rhodiumed German silver. The sapphire bearing for the arbor of the tens and units discs is visible on the right, near the minutes display.

Thanks to a patented constant-force mechanism, the Zeitwerk delivers the one-per-minute impulse that advances the three-disc jumping numerals display (hours, tens-minutes, and units-minutes) in a fraction of a second.

The snailed small seconds at 6 o’clock is visually balanced by a power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. The latter shows the remaining energy on a 210° scale divided into twelve 6-hour segments, improving the legibility of the 3-day power reserve, from AUF (fully wound) to AB (fully unwound). Both hands are crafted from rhodiumed gold.

The peripheral date ring is made of glass with printed numerals from 1 to 31. 

The current date is highlighted in red, thanks to a small segment beneath the ring that performs one step forward at midnight.

The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the hand-wound manufacture calibre L043.8, composed of 516 parts. It features a balance wheel with eccentric poising weights and a free-sprung balance spring, beating at 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour) with a 72-hour power reserve.

The typical three-quarter plate in untreated German silver is decorated with Glashütte ribbing, while perlage, a pattern of overlapping circles, is applied to the internal surfaces of plates and bridges. 

Other notable details include the engraved ratchet wheel, the filigreed remontoir bridge, and the balance cock hand-engraved with Lange’s signature floral motif. Gold chatons and thermally blued screws complete the ensemble.
