In May, DOXA expanded its SUB 200 line with a new version featuring a polished steel bezel insert, offering a fresh alternative within the brand’s growing family of diver’s watches.
Rather than replacing the existing sapphire bezel models, this latest addition complements them and provides enthusiasts with more variety in both appearance and tactile experience.
After our introductory article (read it here), where we presented the eight available colourways — Professional (Orange), Searambler (Silver), Sharkhunter (Black), Caribbean (Navy Blue), Divingstar (Yellow), Aquamarine (Turquoise), Whitepearl (Pure White), and Sea Emerald (Sunburst Green) — we had the opportunity to test three variations, each paired with a different strap. These included the matte orange dial with the signature stainless steel "beads of rice" bracelet (ref. 796.10.351.10), the matte blue dial with a blue FKM rubber strap (ref. 796.10.201.32), and the sunburst green dial with a green NATO strap (ref. 796.10.131.26-N).
The watch comes in a 42 mm case crafted from 316L stainless steel, a material known for its excellent resistance to corrosion. Including the domed sapphire crystal, the total thickness is 13.80 mm.
The screw-down crown is decorated with the "DOXA fish" symbol in black. Together with the screw-in solid case back, it ensures water resistance up to a pressure of 20 bar, equivalent to about 200 metres / 650 feet.
In its default position, the crown is securely tightened against the case. Unscrewing it allows for manual winding in the first position and time-setting in the second.
Despite its 42 mm diameter, the watch wears smaller on the wrist thanks to its short and distinctively shaped lugs that enhance comfort.
The new polished steel insert on the unidirectional rotating bezel gives the watch a slimmer and more refined look compared to the version with the sapphire bezel.
Protected by a ‘glass-box’ sapphire crystal reminiscent of the domed plexiglass used in the 1960s, the dial features a clean and legible layout.
Baton-style hands and applied hour markers are treated with white Super-LumiNova, which glows blue in low-light conditions.
The anti-reflective coating applied to the inner surface of the crystal further improves legibility.
All dial colours except for the Sea Emerald feature a matte finish. The Sea Emerald model stands out with a sunburst green dial that creates captivating reflections depending on the light.
The solid case back is engraved with the signature "DOXA fish" symbol, a recurring emblem that reinforces the brand’s strong connection to the sea.
Powering the SUB 200 is the Swiss automatic Sellita SW200-1 movement. It beats at a frequency of 4 Hz, equal to 28,800 vibrations per hour, and offers a power reserve of 38 hours.
All models can be paired with either the iconic “beads of rice” bracelet in 316L stainless steel with a folding clasp, or an FKM rubber strap, also known as fluoro rubber. This high-performance material offers strong resistance to chemicals, temperature changes, and deformation.
Two strap lengths are available: a smaller size measuring 110 and 65 mm, and a standard size measuring 125 and 75 mm. This allows for a better fit on both men’s and women’s wrists. As a reference, the wrist shown in our photos measures 17.7 cm or 7 inches.
We particularly liked the NATO strap option on the Emerald Green model, which adds a military-inspired look.
All straps are secured by a tang buckle engraved with the "DOXA fish" logo. The lug width is 19 mm.
The new DOXA SUB 200 retails for €1,110 with a rubber or NATO strap, or €1,150 with a stainless steel bracelet.
Combining strong diving credentials with excellent performance, this model delivers distinctive style at an outstanding price-to-quality ratio. Whether you’re after a vintage-inspired daily companion or a dependable underwater tool, the SUB 200 strikes a compelling balance of heritage, functionality, and versatility. doxawatches.com
