Breitling has updated its Superocean Heritage collection, refreshing the design, expanding the range of sizes, and introducing the new B31 manufacture movement.

The Superocean Heritage remains Breitling’s most elegant diving watch, and the latest update focuses on improvements in design and execution.

The collection includes a 42 mm chronograph, powered by the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01. This movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The automatic three-hand models are available in 44 mm, 42 mm, and 40 mm, and introduce the B31 calibre. 

This marks Breitling’s first in-house movement designed exclusively for a three-hand watch. Certified as a chronometer by the COSC, it operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of 78 hours.

A smaller 36 mm version is equipped with the Calibre 10 automatic movement, based on the Sellita SW300. This version also runs at 4 Hz and delivers a power reserve of around 42 hours.

The colour palette for the collection has been distilled to a focused selection of black, blue, and green, each paired with a matching ceramic bezel insert that offers increased resistance to scratches.

Several design refinements contribute to improved symmetry and overall balance. Tone-on-tone subdials and a discreet date window at 6 o’clock lend a harmonious look. 

The use of clearly differentiated hands, an arrow-shaped hand for the hours and a spear-shaped one for the minutes, along with sharply pointed hour markers, ensures excellent legibility at a glance.

The mesh-metal and mesh-rubber bracelets have been made slimmer and more integrated with the case, and are secured with folding clasps for enhanced comfort and convenience.

All watches are water resistant to 200 metres / 660 feet. Prices for the new Breitling Superocean Heritage models start at €5,250 / US$5,250  for the three-hand models and €8,900 / US$8,900 for the chronographs. breitling.com
