Our exclusive pictures of the Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold. In collaboration with Pisa 1940, the largest watch dealer in Italy.
Inspired by the 1989 Tourbillon C187, designed by Daniel Roth himself and one of the first wristwatches to prominently display a large tourbillon on the dial, the new Tourbillon Rose Gold from the revived Daniel Roth brand stands out with its unmistakable double-ellipse case and refined ‘pink on pink’ aesthetic.
The original Daniel Roth Tourbillon C187, a 25-piece limited edition in yellow gold created for Asprey London in 1989
We recently had the opportunity to photograph the Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold (ref. DAAD01A1) at the Pisa 1940 flagship store in Milan, and we are pleased to share the images here.
Pisa 1940, Italy’s largest watch retailer, is a name well known to international collectors, particularly in auction circles. Several prestigious watchmakers, including Patek Philippe, F.P. Journe, and IWC, have created exclusive editions for this historic boutique. The Tourbillon Rose Gold, like other Daniel Roth models, can be ordered through Pisa 1940’s online platform.
Crafted from 18K 5N rose gold, the case measures 38.6 mm by 35.5 mm, with a thickness of 9.2 mm, and is water resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet.
While its dimensions closely echo those of the original C187, the case is not a direct reproduction. Thanks to the slender DR001 calibre, its proportions have been subtly reworked to deliver a more balanced and elegant profile.
One of the most notable changes is in the lugs, which have been gracefully redesigned. Now more curved and integrated, they mirror the fluid lines of the case while enhancing comfort on the wrist.
Please note that in some of the following pictures, the watch’s serial number engraved on the frame of the sapphire crystal case back has been blacked out.
Protected by a flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the 5N rose gold dial is adorned with guillochage en ligne executed in collaboration with Kari Voutilainen’s renowned engine-turning atelier.
The guilloché is applied by hand using a manually operated straight-line engine that engraves each vertical line individually.
The applied chapters and scales are crafted from sterling silver. All dial markings are printed in glossy black lacquer, harmonising with the vivid pink of the gold dial and the black-coated stainless steel hands.
Inside, the hand-wound DR001 calibre has been fully developed by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini, the duo behind La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, which also produces the movement.
Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the DR001 showcases traditional high-end finishing. The bridges feature vertical Côtes de Genève that mirror the linear guilloché on the dial.
Each bridge is further highlighted by anglage – rounded, bevelled edges polished to a mirror finish for a radiant effect. In these picture the watch's serial number has been masked.
The wheel driving the one-minute tourbillon is secured by a curved, black-polished steel bridge, with its pivot jewel set in a gold chaton, one of three in the movement.
Also in black-polished steel is the linear winding click, designed to give a smooth, tactile sensation when winding by hand.
The movement beats at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and offers an 80-hour power reserve.
The Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold shown in our photographs was captured at the Pisa 1940 flagship store in Milan and is available via their online platform. Pricing is available upon request. danielroth.com and pisa1940.com
