Our hands-on review of the DOXA SUB 250T GMT with exclusive pictures and impressions. Price €2,590. A compelling choice not only for divers.
Following the launch of the DOXA SUB 250T GMT at the end of March (you can read our introductory article here), we had the chance to spend a few days with one of the 18 references offered across 9 colour variations.
We tested the Caribbean version, distinguished by its deep navy blue dial, vivid orange accents, and crisp white markers that ensure excellent legibility.
Reintroducing the GMT complication to the SUB lineup for the first time in nearly 20 years, the SUB 250T GMT blends DOXA’s diving heritage with the practical convenience of a second time zone. It’s a thoughtful evolution that caters not just to divers, but also to globetrotters and everyday wearers alike.
This is especially true thanks to its more compact size and streamlined proportions, which make it particularly comfortable on the wrist. For reference, the wrist shown in our photographs measures 17.8 cm / 7 inches.
The DOXA SUB 250T GMT Caribbean comes in a 40 mm x 10.85 mm cushion-shaped case made of 316L stainless steel and equipped with the signature patented bezel with two separate scales, which moves precisely with 120 audible clicks enabling divers to calculate and monitor their no-decompression dive times accurately.
The outer ring indicates dive depths, while the inner ring shows the corresponding no-decompression times at those depths.
The Descent Marker (the two dots) is used to set the dive duration starting at the current time. Once aligned with the two dots, the large minute hand, standing out thanks to its orange hue, indicates the duration in minutes that the wearer can safely remain at the desired depth and return to the surface without requiring a decompression stop.
The dynamic silhouette of the case is accentuated by a mix of polished and satin-brushed finishes, while water resistance is rated to 25 ATM, equivalent to 250 metres or 820 feet.
Adorned with the "DOXA fish" symbol in a colour that matches the bezel scale (in this version, orange), the screw-down crown operates in four positions.
In position 0, it is fully screwed down, ensuring the case remains sealed.
Unscrewing it to position 1 allows you to manually wind the watch if it hasn’t been worn for a while. The rotor will continue winding it automatically while on the wrist.
Position 2 is used to set the 24-hour GMT hand and the date. Turn the crown clockwise to move the GMT hand, or counterclockwise to adjust the date.
Position 3 is for setting the time. Thanks to the hacking seconds function, the second hand stops, allowing for precise synchronisation.
Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the dial is presented in a matte navy blue colour, one of the iconic colours used by DOXA for its diver's watches.
Around it, the 24-hour bi-colour flange is used in combination with the skeletonised GMT hand to display the time in a separate time zone while also indicating day and night. The blue zone represents nighttime (18:00-6:00), while the orange zone indicates daytime (6:00-18:00).
The hour-markers, along with the hours, minutes and seconds hands, are treated with Super-LumiNova for improved legibility in low-light conditions and during dives.
The date window is placed at 3 o’clock. The date is linked to the local time, and will adjust automatically when the hour hand passes midnight.
The watch we tested was equipped with a stainless steel bracelet characterised by the hallmark “beads-of-rice” style with satin-brushed (external) and polished (internal) links. All versions are also available with colour-matching FKM rubber straps.
Both options feature a folding clasp with a diver’s extension that can increase the total length by up to 15 mm, ideal for quick adjustments over a wetsuit or in varying weather conditions. Lug width is 18 mm.
The SUB 250T GMT is powered by a Swiss self-winding movement (base Sellita SW330-2) operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). Adorned with DOXA decorations, it provides a robust 50-hour power reserve.
The screw-in solid case back, which conceals the movement, is engraved with a sailing boat, symbolising this model’s special connection to the world of sailing.
The new DOXA SUB 250T GMT is priced at CHF 2,350 / €2,550 / US$2,450 with a rubber strap or CHF 2,399 / €2,590 / US$2,490 with its steel “beads of rice” bracelet.
In all, the DOXA SUB 250T GMT is a well-balanced timepiece that effectively bridges the brand’s diving DNA with everyday practicality. The return of the GMT function has been thoughtfully executed, adding genuine utility for modern travellers without compromising the watch’s underwater credentials.
With compact dimensions, an ergonomic case design, excellent legibility, and availability in a wide range of colours, this model is a compelling choice not only for divers, but also for frequent flyers and anyone seeking a capable, comfortable option for daily wear. Whether you’re crossing time zones or simply heading into the weekend, the DOXA SUB 250T GMT will be a trusted companion. doxawatches.com
