Blancpain adds royal purple to its Ladybird Colors line—gold, diamonds, and a 100-hour calibre combine watchmaking and jewellery. Price, tech specs.

The royal purple shade makes its debut in Blancpain’s Ladybird Colors collection, joining an exceptionally rich palette of vibrant tones, including raspberry pink, lilac, midnight blue, coral blue, apple green, peacock green, forest green, turquoise, lemon sorbet yellow, and white (read more about the collection here).

This new colour option is offered in two case variations: red gold or white gold.

Measuring 34.90 mm in diameter and 10.43 mm thick, the classic round case is enhanced by over 2 carats of diamonds set on the dial, bezel, crown, lugs, and buckle, merging watchmaking and jewellery.

The dial is made of nacre perlée, the rarest and most delicate form of mother-of-pearl used in watchmaking. Sourced in very limited quantities, it is meticulously extracted from the most curved part of specific cultured shells, each yielding only one or two usable dials.

Due to its natural curvature, usable pieces rarely exceed 28 millimetres in diameter and account for less than 2% of the mother-of-pearl in each shell. The rest is used for less demanding applications.

Distinguished by its finely grained texture, nacre perlée develops naturally over time, lending the dial of the Ladybird Colors a unique sense of depth.

It provides a delicate backdrop for the purple Roman numerals, which gradually diminish in size from top to bottom, creating a graceful visual transition. Each numeral undergoes a meticulous five-step colouring process to achieve its rich, saturated tone.

The numerals encircle two interlocking circles of 70 diamonds. A Blancpain signature, the openworked sage leaf-shaped hands indicate the hours and minutes, while at 6 o’clock, small seconds and a moon-phase display complete the ensemble.

Visible through a sapphire crystal case back, the self-winding Calibre 1163L operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of more than four days (100 hours). 

The use of a silicon balance spring guarantees anti-magnetic properties and improved chronometric performance.

The gold oscillating weight matches the case colour and complements the circular patterns of the watch face, showcasing fine watchmaking finishes such as beveling, circular graining, and snailing.

Reinforcing the colour theme, the purple alligator leather strap highlights refined craftsmanship, with lighter tones on the scales and deeper shades in between.

The new Blancpain Ladybird Colors Royal Purple, available in red gold (ref. 3662D-1954-55) or white gold (ref. 3662E-2954-55), has a suggested retail price of CHF 30,500 with a pin buckle or CHF 32,100 with a folding clasp. blancpain.com
