Omega Railmaster returns in refined stainless steel editions

In 1957, Omega launched a trilogy of professional watches tailored to the demands of specific fields: the Seamaster 300 for divers, the Speedmaster for racing drivers, and the Railmaster for railway staff.

The Railmaster distinguished itself through its impressive anti-magnetic capabilities. Protected by an inner soft iron case, it could resist magnetic fields up to 1,000 gauss, far surpassing the typical 60-gauss protection offered by most watches of the time.

Designed for those working near strong magnetic forces, including engineers and scientists, the Railmaster delivered reliable precision in environments where other watches faltered. Since then, it has maintained its appeal, celebrated for both its functional heritage and clean, utilitarian design. In 2025, Omega brings back the Railmaster once more, reimagined with a streamlined aesthetic and refined dial gradients.

The symmetrical cases and linked bracelets of the new models are aligned with the aesthetic style of the Seamaster Aqua Terra collection, a design approach adopted by all Railmaster models since 2003 to reinforce continuity between the families.

The new Seamaster Railmaster models include two 38 mm variations in polished and satin-brushed stainless steel: one with a grey dial featuring a black gradient, three central hands, and white Super-LumiNova for the indexes and numerals; the other with a beige dial and black gradient, a small seconds sub-dial, and vintage-toned Super-LumiNova for the markers.

Both are available on leather straps, or on a stainless steel bracelet with redesigned links, improved integration, and enhanced wearing comfort.

Visible through the transparent sapphire crystal casebacks, the Master Chronometer movements 8806 and 8804 (small seconds) beat at 25,200 vibrations per hour and offer a power reserve of 55 hours.

These movements withstand magnetism up to 15,000 gauss, 15 times more resistant than the original Railmaster models, and are certified at the industry’s highest standard by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

The new Omega Seamaster Railmaster with a grey dial is priced at €5,700 on a leather strap (ref. O235.12.38.20.06.001) or €6,100 on a steel bracelet (ref. O235.10.38.20.06.001).
