Hanhart 417 ES Heritage Flyback with column-wheel movement and red pusher

Hanhart's most popular collection expands with the 417 ES Heritage Flyback, a new version of their signature chronograph now powered by an AMT column-wheel flyback movement and equipped with a red push-button crafted from HyCeram.

The typical red pusher characterising the 417 ES was designed as a safety measure to prevent pilots from accidentally resetting the stop time. Many of the historic Hanhart calibres were equipped with a flyback function, which could have serious consequences if pressed incorrectly, for example when used for navigation purposes.

HyCeram combines the advantages of 60% microfine ceramic and modern 3D cross-linked polymers. The result is a hybrid ceramic with a high-quality appearance.

The flyback function has long been part of Hanhart's DNA. The historic 417 ES, once developed for the pilots of the German Armed Forces, already had this practical complication, also known as the speed switch. It enables a new time interval to be started immediately with just one press of the reset button, without having to stop the stop mechanism first.

With the new 417 ES Heritage Flyback, this function now returns to Hanhart's most popular collection. The chronograph is powered by the high-quality hand-wound AMT5100 M calibre from Sellita's “Manufacture AMT” department.

The movement works with a classic column wheel, offers a power reserve of at least 58 hours and beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour).

It is adjusted by Hanhart to meet accuracy standards of 0 to +8 seconds per day over six positions, ensuring no negative deviation.

The new 417 ES Heritage Flyback is available in two case sizes: 39 mm and 42 mm, both with a total thickness of 13.30 mm, including the highly domed and internally anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

The polished and satin-brushed stainless steel cases are equipped with a fluted bezel that rotates in both directions and characterised by a red position mark at 12 o'clock, another detail taken from the historical models of the brand.

Featuring a screw-down crown, embossed with the historic “h” of Hanhart, the 417 ES Heritage Flyback is water-resistant to 10 bar (approximately corresponding to 100 metres / 330 feet).

The 39 mm diameter version offers the same size as the original 417 ES, designed for the German Armed Forces in the 1950s, while the 42 mm version was designed for those who prefer a larger case and the possibility to admire the movement through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. In contrast, the 39 mm version has an anti-magnetic case and is therefore equipped with a solid case back.

The dial stays very close to the original design, with counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, old-style numbers, and the same logo used in the past. The use of bright Super-LumiNova on the numbers and hands makes it easy to read, even in the dark.

Both the 39 mm and 42 mm versions come with a choice of black, dark brown, or light brown leather straps, with or without an extra layer underneath. A robust stainless steel bracelet is also available.
