Armin Strom - Pure Resonance Salmon

Armin Strom is launching today a new interpretation of its Pure Resonance, an exclusive model that takes advantage of the resonance physical phenomenon to improve the accuracy and the reliability of the watch, hence its chronometric performance.

As explained in our feature article "In pursuit of precision: mechanical resonance and watches", resonance can contribute to a more regular timekeeping rate by synchronizing two balance wheels that oscillate in opposite directions at the same time.

The result of years of intensive research, Armin Strom's patented Resonance Clutch Spring directly connects two hairsprings for a regular resonant state resulting in exceptional chronometric stability that is more impervious to shocks and positional rate variances compared to traditional movements.

For the joy of the wearer, the sophisticated resonance mechanism is entirely visible from the dial side.

Characterised by a striking coppery-rose “Salmon” guilloché dial handcrafted by Kari Voutilainen, the Pure Resonance Salmon will be produced in an ultra-limited edition of just 5 pieces.

Readability is excellent thanks to the contrasting hands crafted from steel and the white Roman numerals encircled by railroad track marking the exact minutes.

The beautifully snailed sub-dial at 7 o’clock displays the seconds using a baton-shaped hand and a simple track.

The bridges are decorated with elegant Côtes de Genève, applied for the first time in straight lines.

Beating at the frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour) and comprised of 206 components, the hand-wound Caliber ARF16 beats guarantees a power reserve of 48 hours delivered by the two barrels that can be observed through the transparent caseback while they simultaneously wind.

The stainless steel case has classic proportion (42 mm wide and 13 mm thick) and is characterised by a small lip positioned at 6 o’clock. Originally developed as a way to personalize the watch with engraved initials, this additional surface on the case later become a hallmark of the brand.

The clean lines of the case are highlighted by its meticulous finish alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces. Waterproofness is guaranteed up to a pressure of 5 ATM (approximately 50 metres / 165 feet).

Thanks to ergonomically designed short lugs and a meticulously executed black alligator leather strap with a steel folding clasp, the watch sits very comfortably on the wrist.
