After a pause of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Les Voiles de St Barth, one of the world’s leading regattas, is back. The 11th Edition of the event (April 17-23) sees 71 teams and 700 sailors racing with Maxis, Super Maxis, Multihulls, Spinnakers and Melges 24s, all poised to jostle for a place on the podium.

On this special occasion, Richard Mille, one of the main sponsors of the event since 2010, is unveiling the RM 032 Les Voiles de St Barth, a highly technical creation that can withstand a pressure of of 30 bar (approximately 300 metres / 1,000 feet) in accordance with the ISO 6425 standard for diving watches.

Characterised by its two-tone combination of Caribbean blue and white Quartz TPT, the imposing 50.00 mm x 17.80 mm case of the RM 032 Voiles de Saint Barth integrates these elements into a Grade 5 titanium case middle with lugs, inserts and case back in Carbon TPT.

The Grade 5 titanium pushers operate the chronograph and lock the rotating bezel. Using the pusher between 4 and 5 o’clock, the running chronograph can be reset without first having to stop the mechanism, thus saving time.

The crown and pushers can be locked by simply rotating a ring on the crown (green index if unlocked, red index if locked). The movement is thus protected from damage due to excessive pressure or shocks to the crown. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 30 bar (approximately 300 metres / 1,000 feet).

The RM 032 is powered by the RMAC2 Calibre, an automatic winding movement with hours, minutes, oversize date, month, flyback chronograph with minutes and seconds counter, hour counter, running indicator and variable-geometry rotor. Beating at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it offers a power reserve of 55 hours delivered by its double barrel.

At 3 o’clock we find the "indicateur de marche" which, thanks to a 2-rpm rotational frequency, makes it possible to check at a glance the functioning of the running movement.

Placed in a horizontal aperture below 12 o’clock, the semi-instantaneous date is automatically adjusted for months of 30 or 31 days. This model also displays the current month in a small aperture positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock.

The skeletonised baseplate and bridges are made of black PVD-coated Grade 5 titanium which confers great rigidity on the whole assembly, as well as the precise surface flatness essential for perfect functioning of the gear train.

The free-sprung balance with variable inertia guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shocks and during movement assembly or disassembly for better chronometric results over time.

The variable-geometry rotor makes it possible to adapt rewinding of the mainspring to the user’s activity level, in sporting or non-sporting environments. By adjusting the six-position rib, the rotor’s inertia is modified to either speed up the winding process in the case of leisurely arm movements, or to slow it down during sporting activities.
