The Odysseus, the sportiest model in the current A. Lange & Söhne catalogue, is now available in a Grade 5 titanium version that is 45 grams lighter than the steel reference (105 grams vs 150).

The 40.5 mm x 11.1 mm case is fitted with a screw-down crown that contributes to make the watch water-resistant up to a pressure of 12 bar (approximately 120 metres / 400 feet). The alternation of polished, matte, and brushed surfaces highlights the original design of the watch.

Framed by a polished bezel, the ice-blue dial is made of brass and developed on various levels with different surface treatments. The grained inner surfaces of the main and subsidiary dials create a nice contrast with the two outer rings, characterized by concentric lines (this technique is called azurage). 

A bevelled, argenté-coloured flange ring with a printed minute scale frames the dial. A nice touch of colour comes from the number 60 at 12 o'clock which is printed in red.

The classic double-digit outsize date at 3 o'clock is visually balanced by an equally large day-of-week display at 9 o'clock, both using the typical Lange fonts. These indications can be adjusted using the prominent tapered buttons on the right side.

Just like the notched baton appliques, the Lange-typical hour and minute hands made of polished white gold are filled with a luminous compound for improved readability in poor light conditions.

Visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback, the L155.1 DATOMATIC manufacture calibre nicely fills the case with its diameter of 32.9 mm ). The name DATOMATIC remarks the fact that the movement combines a date mechanism with automatic winding.

Highly efficient thanks to a centrifugal mass in platinum, the unidirectionally winding central rotor is sketelenised making it possible to appreciate more details of the beautiful finishes of the German silver-made movement.

Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph), the oscillation system of the Odysseus is firmly held by a manually engraved balance wheel bridge secured at two points instead of the usual balance cock. The mainspring barrel delivers a maximum power reserve of 50 hours.

Also made from Grade 5 titanium, the fully integrated bracelet is equipped with a safety deployant buckle with a precision length adjustment mechanism allowing the wearer to adjust the bracelet length by 7 mm.
