On the occasion of Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, Patek Philippe expands its astronomical watchmaking repertoire with the Celestial Sunrise and Sunset reference 6105G-001, the first wristwatch in the current collection to display the times of sunrise and sunset, in addition to the sky chart, lunar indications and date.
Building on the Celestial concept introduced in earlier references, this new model continues a long-standing tradition of astronomical complications within the Manufacture, now enriched by a function that has historically been reserved for highly complex pocket watches or exceptional pieces.
Developed over five years and protected by six patent applications, the new mechanism introduces a practical approach to reading and adjusting sunrise and sunset times, including during the transition between Summer and Winter Time.
At the centre of the display is the familiar sky chart, reproducing in real time the apparent movement of the stars as seen from Geneva, or any location at the same latitude (46°12’ North).
This indication is driven by a system of three superposed discs rotating at different speeds.
The upper sapphire disc completes one rotation in a sidereal day (23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds), while a second disc tracks the lunar day (24 hours, 50 minutes and 28 seconds), and a third indicates the phases of the moon with a high degree of precision, requiring correction by one day only every 3,000 years.
The indication of sunrise and sunset is integrated into the periphery of the dial through an original layout in which the date scale, displayed by a red hammer-type hand, also serves as the reference for both times.
Two additional hands indicate sunrise on the right side of the dial and sunset on the left. These times vary continuously throughout the year and are governed by a mechanism based on two rotating cams that reproduce the Earth’s axial tilt.
A patented feeler-spindle system reads the profile of these cams and transmits the information to the display via a series of racks and gears.
A further patented system allows simultaneous correction of civil time and sunrise/sunset indications when switching between Summer and Winter Time.
Two pushers positioned on the left side of the case advance or move back the time by one hour, while automatically adjusting the associated indications without affecting the astronomical displays.
The watch is powered by the new self-winding calibre 240 C LU CL LCSO, derived from the ultra-thin calibre 240.
Despite the addition of 121 components, bringing the total to 426 parts, the movement retains a relatively slim profile with a height of 7.93 mm. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offers a power reserve of between 38 and 48 hours.
Winding is ensured by an off-centre 22K gold mini-rotor, allowing the movement to remain compact.
The calibre incorporates a Gyromax balance and a Spiromax balance spring in Silinvar, and meets the criteria of the Patek Philippe Seal, including a rate accuracy of −1/+2 seconds per day.
The case, crafted in white gold, measures 47 mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.39 mm and features a distinctive X-shaped motif worked in relief along the caseband, extending to the solid case back.
This design, with alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces, gives the watch a contemporary character.
Two crowns control the functions: one at 4 o’clock for winding and time-setting, and a second at 2 o’clock dedicated to the astronomical indications, equipped with a patented safety system to prevent accidental operation.
Additional correctors for the date and seasonal time adjustments are discreetly integrated into the caseband.
The watch is completed by a black composite strap with an integrated attachment system and an X-pattern echoing the case decoration, secured by a white gold fold-over clasp.
Water-resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet, the Celestial reference 6105G-001 combines complex astronomical indications with a practical approach to everyday use, marking a new step in the evolution of Patek Philippe’s celestial watches.
The Patek Philippe Celestial Sunrise and Sunset, reference 6105G-001, is priced at €415,795.

Love the dial. Not sure about the strap, and the price! 😂
