The new Panerai Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 revisits one of the brand’s most recognisable configurations, combining heritage-inspired design with a contemporary execution centred on material treatment and long power reserve.

The model draws directly from the Luminor watches developed in the 1960s for professional use, translating their defining elements into a more wearable 44 mm case while preserving the characteristic cushion shape, integrated lugs and the signature crown-protecting bridge patented in the mid-1950s.

The proportions have been carefully reworked to retain the visual balance of the original 47 mm references.

A defining element of this edition is the Brunito finish applied to the steel case.

Developed to evoke the natural ageing of metal equipment exposed to repeated use, the treatment begins with a black PVD coating that is subsequently reduced through manual brushing.

This process creates controlled variations across the surface, particularly along edges and corners, resulting in a finish that recalls the patina of vintage instruments.

Each case is therefore slightly different, reflecting the hand-executed nature of the process.

The 44 mm case is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal recalling the plexiglass used in early Panerai dive watches, enhancing both legibility and depth.

Water resistance is rated at 30 bar (approximately 300 metres / 1,000 feet).

The sapphire caseback reveals the hand-wound manufacture calibre P.5000.

This movement delivers an eight-day power reserve (192 hours) through a twin-barrel construction, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz).

Its architecture is deliberately simple and robust, with most components held between a main plate and a large bridge, leaving only the balance and part of the gear train visible.

A stop-seconds function allows precise time-setting by halting the balance when the crown is pulled.

The emphasis on extended autonomy reflects a historical approach within Panerai, where reducing the frequency of winding contributed to preserving the crown system and maintaining water resistance under demanding conditions.

The dial is presented in anthracite with a circular brushed finish achieved through a manual rotational technique, creating subtle variations in light reflection.

The sandwich construction ensures depth and clarity, with beige Super-LumiNova applied to the Arabic numerals, hour markers and vintage-inspired double pencil hands.

A small seconds display is positioned at 9 o’clock, while the “8 Giorni” inscription at 6 o’clock highlights the extended power reserve.

The watch is fitted with a light brown calf leather strap with beige stitching and a trapezoidal Brunito steel buckle, and is delivered with an additional black rubber strap for more functional use.

First unveiled at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, the Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 will be available as a preview in Italy from 21 to 26 April 2026 during the Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, where Panerai confirms its role as Official Timekeeper for the fourth consecutive year.

For the occasion, the brand will reopen its pop-up store at Rho Fiera, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the new model alongside a selection of its core collections.
