Tutima Glashütte Patria goes titanium with three refined hand-wound models

Tutima Glashütte has introduced three new Patria models crafted in titanium, a material known for its lightness, strength, and resilience. Titanium brings a contemporary touch to a collection deeply rooted in Glashütte’s long-standing watchmaking tradition.

The name Patria, meaning “homeland” in Latin, reflects the brand’s connection to its origins and enduring values. Each watch is powered by the hand-wound Calibre Tutima 617, meticulously assembled from 171 components, a demonstration of the precision and craftsmanship that have defined the brand for nearly a century.

Tutima’s history began in 1927 with the founding of Uhren-Rohwerke-Fabrik Glashütte AG (UROFA) and Uhrenfabrik Glashütte AG (UFAG) under Dr Ernst Kurtz. 

The name Tutima — derived from the Latin tutus, meaning “safe” or “protected” — was reserved for the most precise and reliable wristwatches, reflecting a commitment to technical excellence that continues today.

With the new titanium Patria models, Tutima combines its historical expertise with modern materials, creating watches that are both robust and lightweight while preserving the brand’s hallmark precision and craftsmanship.

The watches are housed in 41 mm × 11.2 mm cases crafted from Grade 5 titanium with finely polished surfaces. 

The ergonomically shaped, fluted crown is framed by a curved flank protection. Water resistance is rated at 5 ATM (50 metres / 165 feet).

Beneath a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the dial stands out with a pyramid motif that creates a shifting play of light and shadow. 

A grooved circle highlights the path of the small seconds, while the outer minute track frames the display.

The manually finished hands are filled with white luminous material glowing blue in the dark. The ensemble is completed by diamond-cut indices and the historic Tutima logo from the brand’s early years.

The Patria line offers three dial variations — anthracite (ref. 6612-01), graphite (ref. 6612-03) and silver-white (ref. 6612-05) — each paired with a matching strap. The anthracite dial comes with a black calfskin strap, the graphite version with a dark sheepskin strap, and the silver-white model with a light brown sheepskin strap. All are fitted with a titanium pin buckle.

Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, the in-house hand-wound Tutima Calibre 617 can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. 

It features a three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, hand-bevelled edges, and ruby bearings set in screwed gold chatons, all traditional elements of Glashütte watchmaking.

The pallet fork, manufactured in Tutima’s Glashütte workshop, transfers energy from the gear train to the balance. The balance, equipped with a manually bent Breguet overcoil forming part of a free-sprung system, regulates the movement. 

Fully assembled, decorated, and adjusted by hand, the calibre provides a power reserve of 65 hours when fully wound.
