Rolex introduces its first ceramic dial on the GMT-Master II 126729 VTNR in white gold. The price of Ref. 126729 VTNR with Cerachrom dial is €48,850

With the new Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II 126729 VTNR, Rolex introduces its very first ceramic dial.

Featuring the same green colour and lustre of the daytime half of the green and black ceramic bezel insert, this dial is crafted from Cerachrom, a high-tech ceramic that is particularly scratch-resistant, with colours that remain vibrant and unaffected by environmental conditions. In addition, thanks to its chemical composition, this advanced ceramic is inert and cannot corrode. 

This inaugural green Cerachrom component makes its debut on an Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II with winding crown positioned on the left side of the case and date aperture at 9 o’clock (as seen on the reference 126720VTNR introduced in 2022), a version housed in a white gold case which retains the size (40 mm x 11.90 mm) and waterproofness (100 metres / 330 feet) of the other GMT-Master II models.

The Triplock winding crown, fitted with a triple waterproofness system and protected by an integral crown guard, has been moved to 9 o'clock alongside the date aperture and the Cyclops lens on the antireflective sapphire crystal. 

The bidirectional rotatable bezel is fitted with a two-colour, 24-hour graduated Cerachrom insert in green and black ceramic. 

The moulded, recessed graduations and numerals are coated with platinum using PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). The bezel's knurled edge offers optimal grip and easy handling.

Thanks to the traditional hour, minute and seconds hands, the additional 24-hour hand, and the rotatable bezel, it is possible to read the time in two time zones at once: either the local time and a reference time, or local time and another time zone. The date is synchronized with the local time.

The solid case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down using a special tool employed by Rolex-approved watchmakers.

Beneath it, the Calibre 3285 beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

Its patented Chronergy escapement is made of nickel-phosphorus to improve resistance to magnetic fields. The blue Parachrom hairspring is crafted from a paramagnetic alloy that makes it up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks, while also offering greater stability in the face of temperature variations. 

The oscillator is mounted on the Rolex-designed, patented high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, further increasing the movement’s shock resistance.

This new version of the GMT-Master II is mounted on an Oyster bracelet equipped with an Oysterlock safety clasp. It is also equipped with the Easylink comfort extension link allowing the wearer to easily adjust the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm. On this gold model, Rolex uses ceramic inserts inside the links to enhance flexibility and longevity.
