Rolex - GMT-Master II Left-Handed 126720VTNR

Rolex introduced the Rolex GMT-Master II Lefty (Mancino) 126720VTNR featuring crown and guards on the left. Price CHF10,500. Rolex 2022 novelties
Rolex introduced an unexpected version of its Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II characterised by a green and black bezel and, more importantly, by the crown and its guards positioned on the left side of the case.

Crafted from Oystersteel, a particularly corrosion-resistant steel alloy, the 40 mm Oyster case of the new GMT-Master II 126720VTNR is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres / 330 feet), also thanks to the Triplock winding crown that screws down securely against the case. The case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the movement.

The bidirectional rotatable bezel is fitted with a two-colour, 24-hour graduated Cerachrom insert in green and black ceramic that was never used before on this model. The moulded, recessed graduations and numerals are coated with platinum via PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition). The green half symbolises day-time while the black signals night-time.

Just like the crown, the date aperture and the Cyclops lens fitting the antireflective sapphire crystal have also moved and appear at 9 o’clock. This required several technical adjustments in terms of the movement and the Superlative Chronometer certification, for which the protocol, as well as some of the final tests, had to be adapted.

Rolex GMT-Master II Left-Handed 126720VTNR

We believe that leaving the date aperture and Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock - like in the 1959 GMT-Master ref. 6542 pictured below - would have have offered a more balanced result.

Thanks to the traditional hour, minute and seconds hands, the additional 24-hour hand, and the rotatable bezel, it is possible to read the time in two time zones at once: either the local time and a reference time, or the local time and another time zone as desired. The date, shown at 9 o’clock, is synchronized with the local time display.

The watch is powered by the in-house designed and manufactured self-winding Calibre 3285 which is equipped with a Chronergy escapement made of nickel-phosphorus (insensitive to magnetic fields) and guarantees a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. The blue Parachrom hairspring is made in a paramagnetic alloy that makes it up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks.

The left-handed version of the GMT-Master II is fitted with a three-piece link Oyster bracelet with the patented Oysterlock folding safety clasp to prevent accidental opening. It is also equipped with the Easylink comfort extension link which allows the wearer to easily adjust the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm.

Covered by the usual Superlative Chronometer certification applied to the fully assembled watch, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II Left-Handed 126720VTNR has a suggested retail price of Euro 10,550 / US$ 11,050. rolex.com

  1. Not a compelling iteration. It looks like you have worn the watch upside-down.

  3. I thought this was a first time for Rolex. Thanks for including a reference to that vintage left-handed GMT Master.

  4. I dont think sprite is a good nick name, perhaps The Martian or the Alien, why? Because its black, green and decidedly different to the norm.. Alien sounds good.
