The Omega Speedmaster Limited Edition 42 mm "Ultraman" is a tribute to the key character in the Ultraman series created by Tsuburaya Productions in Japan. Price , specs of this collectible Speedy 311.12.42.30.01.001)
Omega just presented its second #speedytuesday timepiece after the successful launch of last year's Limited Edition.
The new Omega Speedmaster Limited Edition 42 mm "Ultraman" is a tribute to the key character in the Ultraman series, a collection of shows created by Tsuburaya Productions in Japan, one of the most famous examples of the Kaiju "giant monster" genre.
The new watch is a re-edition of a 1967 model characterized by the orange seconds hand that was featured in the fourth instalment of the Ultraman series: Return of Ultraman. With its bold orange accents, this watch perfectly matched the suits of the heroic Monster Attack Team, becoming an essential part of their super-hero kit.
As an extension of the orange theme, this model also features a black/orange bezel in anodized aluminium.
The classic Speedmaster subdials of the new "Speedy Tuesday" hold a few surprises. As Ultraman was only able to stay in superhero-mode for 3 minutes, the minute subdial at 3 o'clock features the first 3 minutes picked-out in orange. On the seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, a hidden silhouette of Ultraman's profile will display only using the UV lamp equipping the strap changer tool coming with the watch.
Housed in the distinctive 42 mm stainless steel case, the movement is the hand-wound 3 Hz (21,600 vph) calibre 1861, the same used in the iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch.
A vintage Omega logo on the dial adds a retro touch and the caseback features an engraving of #SpeedyTuesday and the words QUALIFIED BY NASA FOR ALL MANNED SPACE MISSIONS.
Presented on a black and orange NATO strap with an additional spare black leather strap, the Omega Speedmaster 42 mm "Ultraman” (ref. 311.12.42.30.01.001) is a limited edition of just 2,012 pieces with a price of Euro 6,020. It can be reserved through the dedicated page of the Omega web site. omegawatches.com
