Rolex has enriched its Day-Date range with four new models, two Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 and two Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36. Prices from €36,700
Rolex has expanded its Day-Date range with four new models, two Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 and two Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36. Each of these models features the typical day and date apertures at 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock and is crafted in 18 ct gold (all watches in the Day-Date range are made only of precious metals).
The first model, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 ref. 228235, marks the debut of a gradated dial on a 40 mm model.
This model is crafted from 18 ct Everose gold with a fluted bezel to frame the slate ombré dial (as Rolex calls it), a completely new hue whose surface, coloured at the centre, progresses to a deep black around the edge.
Also making its debut on the ombré dial of this timepiece are intricately crafted and deconstructed Roman numerals and index hour markers in 18 ct pink gold. Until now, Rolex ombré dials were set with diamond hour markers and were only available for the Day-Date 36.
The second model, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 ref. 228239, is fashioned from 18 ct white gold and features a dial made of pearlized white mother-of-pearl. This natural material is used on the model for the very first time.
Every disc of material used to create a mother-of- pearl dial is meticulously selected for the harmony of its patterns and finesse of its iridescent effects, and is positioned in a way that optimizes the dial’s shine. On the version presented, the shimmer of the mother-of-pearl is further enhanced by the ten baguette-cut diamonds set onto the dial as hour markers.
The Day-Date 36 proposes a dial with faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals and faceted index hour markers, which were until now exclusive to the Day-Date 40.
A new variant of the Day-Date 36 in 18 ct yellow gold, reference 128238, reveals a white lacquer dial complemented by these hour markers with their perfect geometrical forms and uniformly smooth and shiny surface.
Each element is crafted individually in a special workshop, undergoing no fewer than seven operations in the hands of an expert before being applied to the dial.
The Day-Date 36 in 18 ct Everose gold reference 128395, sports a blue-green dial – a colour introduced on the Sky-Dweller in 2023 – for the first time. Ten baguette-cut diamonds further enrich this striking dial.
The bezel is set with 60 trapeze-cut diamonds, each of them set by hand.
All the new models are waterproof to a depth of 100 metres / 330 feet and equipped with Calibre 3255, a self-winding movement enabling them to display the day and the date, as well as the hours, minutes and seconds. The day of the week is available in a choice of 26 languages.
Released in 2015, this 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) movement incorporates the patented Chronergy escapement and a a blue Parachrom hairspring, both particularly resistant to magnetic fields.
Thanks to its barrel architecture and the escapement’s superior efficiency, the power reserve of this movement extends to approximately 70 hours.
All models are equipped with a President bracelet, reserved exclusively for the Day-Date and precious metal versions of the Datejust.
This three-piece link bracelet is equipped with an elegant concealed folding clasp and includes patented ceramic inserts – designed by Rolex – inside the links to enhance its flexibility on the wrist and its longevity.
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 and Day-Date 36 carry the Superlative Chronometer certification, ensuring precision within −2/+2 seconds per day. Prices for these new models start at Euro 36,700. rolex.com
