Omega starts 2021 with a breakthrough, the announcement of a new generation of Speedmaster Moonwatch models: the Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer.
For this important redesign, Omega has taken inspiration from the 4th generation Moonwatch style, commonly referenced as the ST 105.012 and famous for being one of the watches worn by Apollo 11 astronauts who landed on the moon in 1969.
Some of the signature design details include the classic 42 mm asymmetrical case with twisted lugs, the step dial, the domed minute and seconds chronograph hands which follow the bevel of the step dial, the double bevel caseback, and the famous dot over 90 (DON) and a dot diagonal to 70 on the anodised aluminium bezel ring. Water resistance is maintained at 5 bar (approximately 50 metres / 165 feet).
The most remarkable novelty comes with the arrival of the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861. This movement ensures that the Moonwatch will now be unaffected by even the most extreme magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss thanks to its silicon Si14 balance spring. In addition, it ensures that the entire watch is certified as a Master Chronometer – the highest standard of precision, performance and magnetic-resistance in the Swiss watch industry.
Released in 2019 with the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, the Calibre 3861 has not only improved its chronometric performance but also its power reserve, increased to 50 hours.
In accordance with the Calibre 3861’s frequency (3Hz or 21,600 vibrations per hour), the minute track of the dial is now split by 3 divisions, as opposed to the 5 divisions on previous models.
There are four eye-catching models in steel that make up the Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer collection. The hesalite glass models can be chosen on a nylon fabric strap (ref. 310.32.42.50.01.001), or a fully-brushed stainless steel bracelet (ref. 310.30.42.50.01.001) with prices of Euro 6,000 and Euro 6,300, respectively.

The bracelet offers a new five–arched-links-per-row design and comes with a polished Omega logo on a satin-finished cover. 15 mm wide, it also includes two polished pushers in a new oval shape.
Omega also presented two precious versions in 18K Sedna gold (ref. 310.60.42.50.01.001) or 18K Canopus gold (ref. 310.60.42.50.02.001), two exclusive rose gold and white gold alloys offering enhanced brilliance, whiteness and longevity. Prices are Euro 34,900 and Euro 45,400, respectively.
