Louis Moinet - Tempograph Spirit

Louis Moinet presented the new Tempograph Spirit in two limited editions, in titanium and rose gold with prices starting from Euro 27,700

Located in Saint-Blaise, Switzerland, the brand that bears the names master watchmaker Louis Moinet (1768-1853) combines traditional watchmaking with an original creative approach, often introducing innovative technologies.

Their latest creation is the Tempograph Spirit, a new timepiece housed in a 40.7 mm case that frames a dial dominated by a large central retrograde hand whose running 20-second sequences are displayed on a dedicated segment.

This display is completed by another animation at 9 o'clock: a counter with a red, black and blue gradient marks the three 20-second sequences composing each minute, complemented by an hours and minutes subdial at 4 o’clock.

The idea behind this watch is explained by Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO & Creative Director of the brand: "The Tempograph Spirit offers a new perception of time. The fact that the 20 seconds are displayed on a sector and not a circle highlights the importance of each passing second and awakens the senses".

The left-hand side of the dial showcases the interaction between the cam and the jewel-tipped rack. The balance wheel operates at a rate of 480 vibrations per minute, corresponding to 28,800 per hour.

The box-type sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides makes it possible to admire the mechanics from the front as well as from the side while also contributing to slim the silhouette.

The LM85 manufacture movement is comprised of over 250 components and offers 48 hours of power reserve. Its single-piece construction forgoes the use of an additional module for the complication, which is therefore fully integrated. The finishes revealed through the transparent sapphire crystal include circular Côtes de Genève, diamond-polished recesses and circular satin-brushed gears. The rotor features a reinterpreted version of the Clous de Paris hobnail pattern.

Topped by a subtle satin-finish camber, the openworked lugs accentuates the integration of the alligator leather strap with triple-blade folding clasp. The lugs are tipped with Louis Moinet's emblematic signature, four black zircons featuring chatons held by screws.
