This year Glashütte Original chooses a cool glacier blue for the new Sixties Annual Edition 2020. After the green of the 2018 edition and the multi-faceted orange of 2019, this year Glashütte Original chooses a cool glacier blue for the new Sixties Annual Edition 2020.

Additionally, the German brand presents a chronograph model for the first time in an annual edition.

The glacier blue is a colour of great elegance and appeal that is perfectly suited for  the classic look of the Sixties line with its domed sapphire crystals, curved hands and characteristic Arabic numerals.

The special hand-crafted dials are produced in-house in Glashütte Original’s dedicated factory in Pforzheim, Germany.

After receiving a delicate sunray finish, these dials are pressed into their characteristic domed shape and given a galvanic nickel coating. The distinctive dégradé effect is obtained by spraying them with dark blue lacquer, which first gives them a dark edge, and then applying a coat of glacier blue lacquer to the entire surface.

The dials are then heated in an oven to burn in the colours. The incised indexes, printed numerals and Super-LumiNova highlights on each hour marker complete the ensemble.

The Sixties three-hand model is presented in a 39 mm diameter polished stainless steel case, while the chronograph is slightly larger at 42 mm.

The Sixties Chronograph is equipped with a central stop-second along with two inset auxiliary dials for the small second and 30-minute counter.

The domed sapphire crystal case back on both models offers a clear view of each watch‘s finely finished automatic movement - Calibre 39-52 for the Sixties and Calibre 39-54 for the Sixties Chronograph - with three-quarter plate, swan-neck fine adjustment, Glashütte stripe finish and skeletonised rotor with 21-carat oscillating mass.

Both movements beat at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offer a 40-hour power reserve.

Completed by brown-grey nubuck calfskin straps with pin buckle, the Glashütte Original Sixties (ref. 1-39-52-14-02-04) and Sixties Chronograph (ref. 1-39-34-04-22-04) are available for a limited time only from Glashütte Original Boutiques and selected authorised dealers worldwide with prices of Euro 6,600 and Euro 8,100 respectively. glashuette-original.com
