Oris Social Club Edition II: a community-focused design for the Aquis Date

Oris has introduced the Oris Social Club Edition II, a limited community edition created in collaboration with members of the Oris Social Club. 

Based on the Aquis Date Relief 43.50 mm, the watch brings together the 62 Oris Social Club chapters around the world in a single design, with a frosted silver dial, an olive green NATO strap and dedicated details on the date display and case back.

The Oris Social Club Edition II uses the multi-piece stainless steel case of the Aquis Date Relief, measuring 43.50 mm in diameter, 51.00 mm from lug to lug and 13.10 mm thick. 

The case is topped by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside and fitted with a stainless steel unidirectional rotating bezel. Its insert carries the raised minute scale of the Aquis Date Relief design. 

A stainless steel screw-down security crown with crown protection contributes to the watch’s water resistance of 30 bar, equivalent to 300 metres.

The most distinctive element is the white-silver dial, which has a frosted texture intended by Oris to evoke the fingerprint of a community. 

Applied indices and the hands are treated with Super-LumiNova for visibility in low-light conditions. 

The date window at 6 o’clock includes a further reference to the Oris Social Club: on the first day of every month, the Oris Bear appears in the date aperture with a winking expression.

The watch is fitted to an olive green NATO strap, marking the first time in more than a decade that Oris has presented an Aquis Date on a NATO strap. 

The 23 mm interhorn width accommodates the textile strap, which gives the otherwise substantial dive watch a more informal configuration.

Powering the watch is the automatic Oris Calibre 733, based on a movement measuring 25.60 mm in diameter and 11½ lignes. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 Hz, and uses 26 jewels. 

The movement provides a power reserve of 41 hours and features central hours, minutes and seconds, an instantaneous date, a date corrector, a fine timing device and a stop-second function.

The stainless steel case back is screwed and carries special engravings created for the edition.

 

An outline of the Oris factory in Hölstein is accompanied by the inscription “OSC | INT”, identifying the watch as a product of the international Oris Social Club community.
