Introduced in 2005, the Big Bang has become one of Hublot’s defining watches and a platform for the brand’s continuing experimentation with materials.
Ceramic has played a particularly important role in that story. Beyond improving hardness and scratch resistance, Hublot has developed the material in an increasingly broad range of colours, while also exploring composites, sapphire and other unconventional materials.
Presented at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, the Big Bang Reloaded continues this material-focused approach while revisiting the openworked architecture of the Big Bang Unico.
The new collection places greater emphasis on the visibility of its manufacture chronograph movement and on the materials used for the case and other components.
We recently had the opportunity to photograph two Big Bang Reloaded models at Pisa 1940’s flagship store in Milan: the All Black and Blue Ceramic.
The historic Milan retailer is one of Italy’s best-known destinations for watch collectors and has collaborated with several prestigious watchmakers over the years on exclusive editions. The Big Bang Reloaded All Black (ref. 421.CX.1140.NR.RLD) revisits the monochromatic concept Hublot first introduced in 2006. The 44 mm case is made entirely of black ceramic, complemented by black-plated elements and a skeleton dial treated in matching tones.
The restrained colour palette places the emphasis on the combination of polished and satin finishes across the case and bezel, while giving the watch a deliberately uniform appearance.
The Big Bang Reloaded Blue Ceramic (ref. 421.EX.5129.NR.RLD) takes a different approach, using blue ceramic to demonstrate Hublot’s work with coloured versions of the material. Its case combines satin-finished and polished blue ceramic with a titanium bezel, while matching blue accents continue onto the strap.
The grey-toned skeleton dial provides greater contrast and keeps the movement components visible, with an anthracite-treated rotor adding another layer of detail on the reverse.
Both watches are powered by the HUB 1280 Unico, an integrated self-winding flyback chronograph operating at 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
The 354-part movement contains 43 jewels and incorporates several patented solutions, including a backlash-compensating oscillating clutch and an anti-shaking system for the chronograph seconds hand.
For the Reloaded collection, the movement takes on greater visual prominence.
The column wheel is exposed at 6 o’clock and the dual clutch at 8 o’clock, while the chronograph counter at 3 o’clock has been redesigned. The date display has also been repositioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. Viewed through the sapphire caseback, the openworked rotor carries a cut-out “H” motif.
The shared 44 mm case measures 14.5 mm thick and provides water resistance to 100 metres.
A two-part bezel creates additional contrast between the different materials and surface treatments, while the multilayer skeleton dial contributes to the depth of the construction.
Both versions are supplied with two interchangeable straps: a fabric-textured rubber strap and a structured rubber strap. Each is fitted with a deployant clasp and uses Hublot’s One Click system for strap changes.
