Tutima Glashütte Flieger T5: a 38.5 mm pilot’s watch in Grade 5 titanium

Tutima Glashütte applies its experience with pilot’s watches and titanium to the new Flieger T5, a 38.5 mm three-hand model with a lightweight Grade 5 titanium case.

Grade 5 titanium is an alloy composed of 90% titanium, 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium, combining high strength with low density and resistance to corrosion. 

Tutima Glashütte has used titanium in its watches for decades, including chronographs developed for the Bundeswehr and NATO, building specific expertise in the machining and construction of lightweight cases.

The new Flieger T5 follows the functional visual language of an aviation instrument. 

Protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the lacquered dial is available in black or blue and features Arabic numerals, baton-style hour markers, and a distinctive triangular marker at 12 o’clock. 

The hour and minute hands have a characteristic lance shape and are treated with white Super-LumiNova, while the central seconds hand is red. A five-minute graduated minute track reinforces the tool-watch character, and the date display is discreetly integrated at 6 o’clock.

The case measures 38.5 mm in diameter and 12.5 mm in thickness, with a polished bezel contrasting with the satin-finished case middle. 

Equipped with a screw-down crown, the Flieger T5 offers water resistance up to 10 ATM (approximately 100 metres / 330 feet). 

The case back is also made from Grade 5 titanium and incorporates a sapphire crystal aperture through which the Tutima Calibre 330 can be viewed.

This  self-winding movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and provides a power reserve of 41 hours. 

Its rhodium-plated rotor is decorated with a Tutima seal in 18-carat rose gold, while the movement also features polished screws. 

The bracelet combines polished centre links with satin-finished outer surfaces and is secured by a folding clasp bearing the Tutima logo. 

The blue dial version is also available with a light brown Horween leather strap, fitted with a blue lining and a folding clasp, for a more traditional pilot’s-watch appearance.

The Tutima Glashütte Flieger T5 is priced at €2,000 with a Horween leather strap or €2,410 with a Grade 5 titanium bracelet. tutima.com
