Hands-on Review: Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40mm

Hands-on review with exclusive pictures of the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40mm. Full specs, FC-719 calibre and price (€4,995)

Earlier this year, Frederique Constant refreshed one of its most successful Manufacture models with the introduction of the Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40 mm

Rather than simply reducing the case size, the Geneva-based brand took the opportunity to rethink the watch as a whole, refining both its aesthetics and mechanics while preserving the intuitive operation that has made this worldtimer so popular.

Review Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40mm

The new reference does not depart from the original concept, but subtly evolves it, offering a modern interpretation of the same proven formula.

Compared to the 42 mm version we reviewed in 2024, the new model offers a more compact 40 mm case, a streamlined dial without the date display, and a revised Manufacture calibre delivering a substantially longer 72-hour power reserve instead of 38 hours.

In particular, our review focuses on the two standard versions presented during their debut at Watches and Wonders Geneva.

The first (ref. FC-719BLW3H6) offers a more contrasted aesthetic, combining gradient blue oceans with taupe relief continents and a white city disc.

It is equipped with an interchangeable navy blue alligator strap with a stainless steel folding buckle featuring an intricate cutout of the Frederique Constant symbol.

The second model (ref. FC-719NN3H6B) pairs navy blue oceans and a matching city ring with continents rendered in a grey grained relief finish.

It is fitted to a new interchangeable five-link stainless steel bracelet combining brushed and polished surfaces and secured by a triple folding clasp with double safety push-buttons.

The new Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40mm comes in a redesigned round case that is 12.53 mm thick and crafted from stainless steel, with a polished finish that enhances the elegance of the timepiece. The lug width is 20 mm.

Water resistance is rated at 5 ATM (50 metres / 165 feet), providing adequate protection for daily wear.

Thanks to its curved lugs, which ergonomically contour to the wrist’s profile, and its compact size, the watch offers excellent wearing comfort.

For reference, the wrist shown in our pictures measures 17.8 cm / 7 inches.

A convex sapphire crystal featuring anti-reflective treatment protects the Worldtimer display, the defining element of the watch.

Designed to display all 24 time zones simultaneously, the indication relies on an outer disc bearing the full names (and not just their abbreviations) of all 24 reference cities, paired with a 24-hour disc split into a lighter section denoting daytime and a darker one for night-time.

Once synchronised with the main hour hand, no further adjustment is needed.

All the functions can be intuitively adjusted using the onion-shaped crown, which has three positions:

1. Manual winding.

2. Rapid correction of the worldtimer by adjusting the city disc.

3. Time setting with a stop-second function; the 24-hour disc adjusts itself automatically.

By eliminating the need for recessed correctors on the case side, Frederique Constant has not only improved ease of use, but also enhanced the watch’s overall reliability and water resistance.

On this new generation, Frederique Constant chose to remove the date display in favor of a cleaner, more balanced dial layout.

Both models feature applied indices and silver-toned hands filled with white Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability in low-light conditions.

Light reflections playing across the textured surface add captivating visual depth.

The sapphire case back reveals the FC-719 Manufacture calibre, designed, developed, and assembled in-house by Frederique Constant.

Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the self-winding movement comprises 193 components and 26 jewels.

The most significant technical upgrade is the power reserve, which jumps from 38 hours to 72 hours thanks to a longer mainspring and an optimized barrel alloy.

This practical improvement allows the owner to set the watch aside for an entire weekend without it stopping or needing to be reset.

Beyond its mechanics, the movement is embellished with traditional decorative finishes, including sunburst Côtes de Genève, circular graining (perlage) on the bridges, and a satin-finished, snailed oscillating weight.

Completing the decoration is an engraving of the Frederique Constant coat of arms—a hallmark reserved strictly for the brand's in-house Manufacture movements.

Confirming Frederique Constant’s commitment to accessible luxury, the new Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40 mm is priced at €4,995, whether paired with a leather strap (ref. FC-719BLW3H6) or a steel bracelet (ref. FC-719NN3H6B).

With the Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40 mm, Frederique Constant has successfully evolved one of its most iconic complications.

By combining refined design, user-friendly functionality, high-quality finishes, and an enhanced in-house movement, the brand delivers a versatile watch that balances daily wearability with technical sophistication.

Especially considering its price, it remains one of the most compelling manufacture-made worldtimers on the market today. frederiqueconstant.com
