Glashütte Original - Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date in Green and Grey

The Seventies collection of Glashütte Original is expanding with two new variations of the Chronograph Panorama Date model. The new Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date models with grey (ref. 1-37-02-05-02-35) or green dial (ref. 1-37-02-04-02-35) have a price of Euro 12,500 Euro. A stainless steel bracelet is also available.
The Seventies collection of Glashütte Original is expanding with two new variations of the Chronograph Panorama Date model. The tones of their dials are inspired to the colours of the manufactory's surroundings.

The German watchmaker is located in the centre of Glashütte, a small town set in a valley in Saxony’s Ore Mountains surrounded by thick forests and green meadows with two dominant colours: green and grey.

Paying tribute to this landscape, the new Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date models with green or grey dial are limited editions of 100 pieces each.

As typical of the brand, these dials are in-house produced at Glashütte Original. This is pretty rare among watch industries as most of them rely on external suppliers for these components. The German brand makes them in a dedicated manufactory in Pforzheim, a city rich in the traditions of jewelry making around 600 km east of the headquarter.

Their colours are enhanced by a dégradé effect: the lighter hues at the centre of the dial shade gradually into darker nuances at the circumference.

This is obtained by using rotating brass brushes for the sunray finish and then, in the galvanic department, by applying green or grey lacquer in several passes.

As the final step, black lacquer is applied at varying angles using a hand-held spray gun, which results in individual colour flows unique to each watch. The lacquer-coated dials are then fired in a kiln to burn in the colour.

Framed by a sporty square case - 40 mm in diameter and 14.1 mm thick - in polished stainless steel, all the indications are efficiently arranged: central stop seconds, 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock, small seconds and power reserve display at 9 o'clock, 12-hour chronograph aperture at 12 o'clock and, of course, the signature Panorama Date at 6 o'clock.

Inside, the automatic chronograph movement with column wheel and flyback mechanism, Calibre 37-02,  beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of 70 hours. The beautiful finishes, in line with the fine watchmaking standards of the brand, are showcased through the transparent sapphire crystal.

Matched to a calf nubuck leather strap with fold fastener, the new Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date models with green (ref. 1-37-02-04-02-35) or grey dial (ref. 1-37-02-05-02-35) have the same price of Euro 12,500. A stainless steel bracelet is optionally available. glashuette-original.com
