Chopard - Alpine Eagle

Chopard Alpine Eagle

With the new Alpine Eagle, Chopard enters again the luxury sport watch segment of the market.

The inspiration comes from the Maison's St. Moriz model launched in the 1980s but it is unavoidable to recognize the influence of iconic timepieces like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus and the first Vacheron Constantin Overseas.

Available in steel, gold, bi-material or diamond-set gold and in two sizes (41 mm and 36 mm), the new model presents several references to the eagle and its environment, including the textured dial evoking its iris, the hands calling to mind the raptor’s feathers and the cold steel calling to mind glaciers.

Featuring integrated case and bracelet with polished and matt finishes, the Alpine Eagle is characterized by a round bezel punctuated by eight screws, grouped in pairs at the four cardinal points and with their slots set at a tangent to the circle of the bezel.

These screws also serve a technical function by guaranteeing the water resistance of the watch to 100 metres / 330 feet.

The case is further distinguished by a protrusion protecting the large crown engraved with a compass rose. Called Lucent Steel A223, the steel used by Chopard is the result of a re-smelting process which makes it highly dermo-compatible, more resistant to abrasion and particularly reflective.

The tapered Alpine Eagle bracelet comprises a single ingot-shaped link, topped by a polished central cap. A steel triple folding clasp secures the watch to the wrist.

The hours and minutes hands, like the hour-markers, are coated with Super-LumiNova Grade X1 to enhance nocturnal legibility.

The two movements with automatic winding embedded in the Alpine Eagle models are manufactured in-house and chronometer-certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Control.

The 41 mm references are equipped with the 4 Hz (28,800 vph) 01.01-C calibre with a 60-hour power reserve, while the 36 mm models host the 3.5 Hz (25,200 vph) 09.01-C calibre with a 42-hour power reserve. Both are visible through a transparent sapphire crystal back.

The price of the Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 mm in steel, either with a blue (ref. 298600-3001) or a slate grey dial (ref. 298600-3002), is Euro 12,200. chopard.com

    1. rafandy, I do not mind it but you are pretty accurate. I would have not used the Roman numerals which are more for elegant timepieces, not for sporty ones.
