SIHH 2015: Cartier Clé de Cartier. Cartier designed many memorable shapes for its timepieces. Just think to the Santos, the Tank or more recently the Ballon Bleu. The new Clé de Cartier, the creation that the Maison just presented at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie of Geneva, makes no exception introducing distinctive elements. Retail prices for the men models are Euro 14,000 for the pink gold versions and Euro 15,000 for the white gold one.
Cartier designed many memorable shapes for its timepieces. Just think to the Santos, the Tank or, more recently, the Ballon Bleu.
The new Clé de Cartier, the creation that the Maison just presented at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie of Geneva, makes no exception introducing distinctive elements: a curved profile that fits snugly to the wrist, a gently rounded bezel, tapered horns and a jewel-like key-like crown which gives the name to the model (clé in French means key).
With this new crown, adorned with a blue sapphire, the act of adjusting the time and date recalls the turning of a key to wind up a clock.
The watch is powered by the 1847 MC automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve that was developed, fabricated and assembled in-house with efficiency in mind. Thanks to a specially conceived lever system, the dual direction winding mechanism is endowed with great robustness and durability. A specially developed barrel contributes to the chronometric stability of the movement.
The Clé de Cartier collection includes models for men and for women. The 40 mm case of the model for men is available in pink gold or white gold matched to an alligator leather strap or a bracelet.
The models for women are offered in two sizes: 31 or 35 mm, with a diamond set bezel or entirely set with brilliant-cut diamonds. The 35 mm version features the same manufacture movement of the men version.
Retail prices for the men models are Euro 14,000 for the pink gold versions and Euro 15,000 for the white gold one. cartier.com
