H. Moser & Cie. expands its high-complication collection with the Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain, a limited edition of 20 pieces that combines one of the Manufacture's most sophisticated mechanical movements with an artisanal dial inspired by the night sky.
Housed in a lightweight titanium case, the new model brings together a minute repeater with dial-side hammers and gongs, a one-minute flying tourbillon fitted with a cylindrical hairspring, and a fully skeletonised hand-wound movement.
While the movement showcases the Manufacture's expertise in complex mechanisms, the dial introduces an artistic dimension through the use of aventurine glass and carefully hand-applied mother-of-pearl inlays.
The 40 mm case measures 14.4 mm in thickness and is fitted with sapphire crystals on both sides, allowing an unobstructed view of the movement.
The minute repeater is activated by a sliding bolt integrated into the case flank, equipped with a Teflon runner designed to ensure smooth operation. Completing the exterior is a crown engraved with the characteristic "M" logo.
The most striking visual feature is the completely skeletonised dial architecture, which exposes the movement while placing the minute repeater mechanism at centre stage.
Rather than hiding the hammers and gongs beneath the movement, as is customary, H. Moser & Cie. has positioned them on the dial side, making the striking mechanism fully visible during operation.
Achieving this configuration required a complete redesign of the calibre while preserving the acoustic qualities expected from a minute repeater, which strikes the hours, quarter-hours and minutes on demand.
At 2 o'clock, a small domed sub-dial introduces a contrasting visual focal point. Crafted from aventurine glass, it displays H. Moser & Cie.'s signature fumé gradient, created by hand-applying fragments of aventurine glass in two different shades before subjecting the dial to multiple firings.
With this stage complete, thin strips of mother-of-pearl are individually cut, gently curved, and carefully set into engraved recesses along the dial's contours. Their subtle iridescence emerges from the aventurine surface, resembling stars scattered across the night sky and giving each dial its own unique appearance.
The skeletonised display is completed by leaf-shaped hands indicating the hours and minutes.
The one-minute flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock is fitted with a cylindrical hairspring, one of the rarest regulating organs in contemporary watchmaking.
Descended from the marine chronometers of the eighteenth century, the cylindrical hairspring rises vertically around the balance staff, allowing the spring to breathe concentrically and improving isochronism.
Manufactured by Precision Engineering AG, H. Moser & Cie.'s sister company, each hairspring is individually shaped by hand in a demanding process that requires significantly more time than the production of a conventional flat hairspring.
Powering the watch is the hand-wound Manufacture calibre HMC 909. Measuring 33 mm in diameter and 9.6 mm thick, the movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz).
A single barrel provides a generous power reserve of 90 hours.
Every visible surface receives extensive hand-finishing and decoration, while the three-dimensional architecture enhances the visual depth of the movement when viewed from either side of the watch.
The watch is paired with a hand-stitched grey nubuck alligator leather strap secured by a titanium pin buckle engraved with the Moser logo.
Produced in a limited edition of only 20 pieces, the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain (Ref. 1909-0501) is priced at €440,000.
