Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph XV: black and silver for a regional limited edition

Limited to 100 pieces in the DACH region, the Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph XV pairs a black dial with silver accents. Price: €17,400.

Glashütte Original is taking a monochromatic turn with its latest regional release. The new Seventies Chronograph XV steps away from the vibrant, colourful dials that usually define the collection, opting instead for a striking matte black dial with silver accents.

Available exclusively in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, this new edition is limited to just 100 pieces.

Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph XV

The Seventies line draws its inspiration from the design language of the 1970s, a period that saw a shift toward more functional forms and cleaner aesthetics.

The Seventies Chronograph XV reflects this influence through its distinctive TV-shaped case and a high-contrast colour palette.

Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph XV

Manufactured in-house, the dial is finished in matte black lacquer and features silver-galvanised sub-dials decorated with a fine vinyl-record pattern that adds depth and texture to the display.

White-gold hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova ensure legibility in low-light conditions, while the slim chronograph seconds hand is distinguished by a counterweight shaped like Glashütte Original’s double-G logo.

The layout remains faithful to the well-established architecture of the Seventies Chronograph.

A 30-minute counter is positioned at 3 o’clock, complemented by a discreet numerical 12-hour counter beneath 12 o’clock.

At 9 o’clock, the power-reserve indicator shares a sub-dial with the small seconds display, while Glashütte Original’s signature Panorama Date is located at 6 o’clock.

The stainless steel case measures 40 mm by 40 mm, with a thickness of 14.1 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 46.4 mm. Characterised by its rounded corners, it combines satin-brushed and polished surfaces that transition seamlessly onto the integrated stainless steel bracelet.

A practical fine-adjustment system allows the bracelet length to be altered by up to 8 mm without tools. Water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet), the watch is equipped with a screw-down crown protected by integrated guards.

Sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating on both sides provide a clear view of the dial and, through the sapphire caseback, of the movement.

Powering the watch is the manufacture Calibre 37-02, an automatic chronograph movement with a flyback function that operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).

Glashütte Original Calibre 37-02

Equipped with a silicon balance spring, the movement offers a power reserve of 70 hours and is resistant to temperature variations and magnetic fields.

Comprising 65 jewels, the movement is finished according to traditional Glashütte standards. Through the sapphire caseback, one can observe bevelled and polished edges, blued screws, Glashütte ribbing on the three-quarter plate and balance bridge, as well as a skeletonised rotor fitted with a gold oscillation weight.

Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph XV

The Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph XV (reference 1-37-02-21-02-70) is priced at €17,400 and available in a limited edition of 100 pieces, exclusively through Glashütte Original boutiques and authorised retailers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
