Review: Nomos Glashütte Club Sport neomatik 37mm and 39mm

Hands-on review of the Nomos Glashütte Club Sport Neomatik 37mm and39 mm. Pictures, specs and prices (starting at Euro 2,500)
Review: Nomos Glashütte Club Sport neomatik 37mm and 39mm

Nomos Glashütte's Club Sport Neomatik range currently comprises seven size/dial combinations, including the recent inclusion of the 37mm version at the end of 2022 and the introduction of the 39mm model last September:
  • 37mm: Petrol Green, Polar Blue
  • 39mm: Smoke, Tabac, Ember
  • 42mm: Black, Blue
After our review of the Club Sport neomatik 42 date powered by the DUW 6101 neomatik calibre, we recently had the pleasure of wearing and testing the new 37mm version with a Petrol Green dial, ref. 746, and the 39mm model (measuring 39.5mm) with an Ember dial, ref. 762. Both were fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal case back, showcasing the refined neomatik movement.

These two new case sizes make the Club Sport even more versatile, a perfect fit for all occasions.

Both versions are crafted from 316L stainless steel with a polished finish and guarantee water resistance up to a pressure of 20 bar (approximately 200 metres / 660 feet), making them suitable for swimming and diving.

Thanks to the slimness of their automatic DUW 3001 calibre (which we will describe later in the article), both models are very slim, with a height of only 8.3mm (37mm) and 8.5mm (39mm). If you opt for a stainless steel case back instead of the transparent case back, thickness is further reduced to 8.2mm and 8.4mm, respectively.

The Club Sport neomatik 37 and 39 are paired with three-link satin-brushed and polished steel bracelets, secured to the wrist by deployant clasps.

Seamlessly connected to the cases, the bracelets are equipped with quick-change spring bars that make it possible to replace them without needing any tool. Available options include the Nomos Sport steel bracelet or textile straps in various colours. The lug widths are 18mm for the 37mm model and 20mm for the 39mm.

Wearability of these watches is excellent thanks to the ideal proportions and curved lugs. Whether to go for the 37mm or the 39mm is just a matter of personal taste and wrist size. The wrist in our pictures measures 17.7 cm / 7 inches.

With their sunburst-finish, the dials are truly captivating, as the pictures show. Well protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside and out, they offer excellent legibility thanks to large hands and hour markers, alternating Arabic numerals and indexes.

They are generously coated with white Super-LumiNova, glowing in blue in darker environments.

The snailed small seconds counter at 6 o'clock and the "neomatik" inscriptions in relief complete the refined dial.

The transparent sapphire crystal case back showcases the in-house manufactured DUW 3001 calibre equipped with the Nomos proprietary swing system ensuring the highest precision and reliability and giving this model the additional title of ‘neomatik’. Beating at the frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), it guarantees autonomy of up to 43 hours.

Characterised by a three-quarter plate architecture, this self-winding movement offers high-quality finishes, including rhodium-plated surfaces with Glashütte ribbing, perlage, and tempered blued screws. The bidirectional winding rotor is enhanced by gold-plated embossing.

Whichever size you choose, the Nomos Glashütte Club Sport neomatik is one of the best and versatile sport/chic watches that you can buy in its price range, offering a recognizable style, flawless finishes, and a high-quality manufacture movement. It will be perfect with a week-end casual fit but at ease also with a suit in a business environment.

The prices - Euro 2,980 for the 37mm model (ref. 746) and Euro 3,120 for the 39mm (ref. 762), both with with steel bracelet and transparent case back - are in line with the high standards of the timepieces. They can be reduced to Euro 2,500 (ref. 745) and Euro 2,640 (ref. 761) if you opt for a textile strap and a solid case back. nomos-glashuette.com
