Formex introduces the “Baby” Reef 39.5 mm Automatic COSC 300M

Formex presented the new “Baby” Reef 39.5 mm Automatic COSC 300M, a compact, smaller version of their popular Reef diver's watch. Prices from €1,630
As its nickname suggests, the new “Baby” Reef 39.5 mm Automatic COSC 300M presented by Formex is a compact, smaller version of their popular Reef diver's watch, which is also available in a larger size of 42 mm.

Formex “Baby” Reef 39.5mm Automatic COSC 300M

Crafted from 316L stainless steel, its 39.5 mm x 11 mm case is characterised by an angular and symmetrical shape with functional guards to protect the screw-down crown. The lines are highlighted by alternating mirror-polished bevels and brushed surfaces.

A double gasket construction is tested for 300 metres / 1000 feet of water resistance.

All Reef models now come with a one-of-a-kind bezel mounting system that allows pulling out the bezel from the case by hand and exchanging it with any of the four available options (blue ceramic, green ceramic, black ceramic, stainless steel).

Unidirectional and graduated over 60 minutes, this highly responsive bezel rotates in 120 clicks.

The four available dials are manufactured in Formex’s in-house dial manufacture in the Swiss Jura Mountains. The blue, green and silver dials are finished with a sunburst effect and a hand-applied colour gradient. As for the white dial, the initial application of white lacquer on a mirror-polished surface is followed by the layering of seven coats of transparent lacquer, which is subsequently polished down to achieve a uniquely deep appearance.

The date window is angled on both sides to increase legibility of the colour-adjusted date. Hands and hour markers as well as a capsule on the bezel’s zero marker are deep filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9 that emits a long-lasting blue glow in darker environment.

The “Baby” Reef is powered by a chronometer-grade, COSC-certified, Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offering 56 hours of power reserve.

The versatility of this timepiece is further enhanced by the quick-change system equipping both the straps and the stainless steel bracelet.

All strap options (except the NATO pin buckle) feature a gradual fine-adjustment system, enabling a perfect fit on the wrist in all conditions and temperatures. While the stainless-steel bracelet has a 10 mm adjustment hidden in a compact folding buckle, the rubber and leather straps come with a carbon fiber deployant buckle offering a 7 mm adjustment. This feature allows for gradual adjustments while wearing the watch on the wrist. Third-party straps with a width of 22 mm and straight spring bars are also compatible.

The Formex “Baby” Reef 39.5 mm Automatic Chronometer 300M can be configured on the brand's Online Boutique with 4 dial, 4 bezel and 7 bracelet/strap options. Prices start from Euro  Euro 1,630 / US$1,670.00 with a NATO strap. Each additional bezel costs Euro 169 / US$ 170. formexwatch.com
