Pictures and price of the HYT Moon Runner Supernova Blue taken at the Pisa store in Milan. Discover the Pisa Circle digital platform for collectors
The new Moon Runner Supernova Blue by Swiss brand HYT Watches brings the representation of the moon phases at center stage, making it the protagonist of a dial that is rich of fascinating details, one for all the retrograde hours shown by the patented fluidic system.
We had the opportunity to take some pictures of this exclusive timepiece, whose production is limited to 27 pieces worldwide, at the Pisa flagship store in Milan and we are now delighted to share them with our readers. The watch is currently available through their digital platform for collectors, Pisa Circle (you can read about it here).
Measuring 48 mm in diameter and 13.3 mm thick, the case of the Moon Runner Supernova Blue is made from grey and blue titanium and topped with an anti-reflective coating sapphire crystal glass dome which protects the black brass dial with blue accents, 3D applied indexes and white luminescent numerals. Waterproofness is guaranteed up to 50 metres / 165 feet.
Around the three-dimensional moon, two titanium indicator disks show days and months. Moving outwards we meet the short white hand indicating the minutes and the retrograde hours displayed by mean of a blue fluid.
For improved legibility, the minute hand is covered with white Super-LumiNova, just as the inscriptions of the day and month disks.
The mecafluidic technology of the brand is based on two central "bellow" reservoirs and the capillary surrounding the dial. The active, coloured fluid is in the first reservoir; the passive, transparent fluid is in the other reservoir.
For this model, the active liquid is coloured a special "Supernova Blue" but the brand uses other colours to match the look of each of their creations (see for example their "Green Nebula" model).
The two flexible reservoirs are fixed to each end of the capillary. While the first compresses, the second expands, and the other way round, resulting in the movement of the liquid in the capillary.
The repulsive force of the molecules in each liquid keep them separate, with a meniscus to mark the boundary between the two. When the flow of fluids reaches 6 o'clock, the two liquids return to their initial position. At 6 o'clock, the fluidic module disconnects from the mechanical part and performs a self-regulated retrograde movement to find its initial position. Once reconnected to the mechanical part, it starts again for a 12-hour cycle.
The Moon Runner Supernova Blue is driven by a manual winding mechanical movement, 601-MO calibre, that beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hertz) with an autonomy of 72 hours.
The choice of a manual winding movement ensures regular and seamless operations, essential to provide constant displacement and distribute enough energy so that the liquids flow at the desired speed inside the glass capillary.
The watch is completed by a bi-material strap, made of black rubber and alcantara blue, decorated with blue stitching and secured to the wrist by a black titanium clasp with glossy and sandblasted finishing.
This HYT Moon Runner Supernova Blue model in our pictures was shot at the Pisa flagship store in Milan and it is available through the Pisa Circle digital platform at the price of Euro 147,938. hytwatches.com
