With the new Presage Crown Chronograph Limited Editions, Seiko pays homage to Japan’s first wristwatch with a stop-watch function that was developed in 1964 for the first international sports event held in Japan.
In these three new limited-edition models, the stop-watch function can be activated by pressing the push button integrated into the crown for the start, stop and reset steps. The use of a pillar wheel allows reliable control of operations.
The design of the 1964 Crown Chronograph has been reproduced quite faithfully with Arabic numerals applied to the narrow bezel and the fine minute gradations highlighted on the dial. Compared to the original, the new editions integrated the single push button into the crown, added the date window at 3 o'clock and the "Presage Automatic" text at 6 o'clock in place of "Diashock 21 jewels".
Protected by a sapphire glass with non-reflective coating applied to the inner surface, the dial is available in three colours: black (SPB127J1), cream (SPB131J1), and green (SPB129J1).
Crafted from stainless steel, the 41.3 mm x 11.3 mm case has an inwardly tilted shape to better sit on the wrist. Water resistance is 100 metres / 330 feet.
Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, the 6R35 self-winding movement ensures 70 hours of power reserve.
Each new Presage Crown Chronograph model comes in a limited edition of 1,964 units - in acknowledgment of the year of the Crown Chronograph’s release - with a price of Euro 830 / US$ 825. The individual serial number 0001/1964 is inscribed on the case back. seikowatches.com
