Pre-SIHH 2015: IWC - Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph

At the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2015 IWC will unveil the new Portuguese collection with twelve new models. After the Annual Calendar model, here we have another novelty with the Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph.

The most important design change in this model (ref. 3905) is the size: in fact, the case diameter has been reduced from 45.4 mm to 43.5 mm so meeting the increasing requests for slightly smaller watches. Other brands have started presenting models with smaller diameters so there is a clear trend in this direction, which we see as a positive thing.

The movement remains the same: the IWC-manufactured self-winding 89361-calibre, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hours and offering 68 hours of power reserve. It features a flyback function and aggregate timing of up to 12 hours, shown by an analogue display with two hands in the subdial at 12 o'clock.

The design of the dial offers excellent legibility with indices and hands treated with Super-LumiNova luminescent material and a railway minute circle for minutes. The red details used for the chronograph functions emphasise the sporty look of the watch. The round case is water resistant to 6 bar (60 metres) also thanks to the screw-in crown.

The IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph will be available in stainless steel with the new slate coloured sunburst finish dial (ref. IW390503), in stainless steel with silver-plated dial (ref. IW390501) and in red gold with silver-plated dial (ref. IW390502). The model is completed by a newly designed black rubber strap with matching buckle.
