Panerai unveils the Luminor Quaranta BiTempo Goldtech PAM01641

Panerai released the Luminor Quaranta BiTempo Goldtech PAM01641, offering a useful GMT function in a precious Goldtech case. Price €25,900

Introduced in 2021, the Luminor Quaranta is Panerai's smaller interpretation of its iconic Luminor, known for its cushion-shaped case with patented crown-protecting device.

The latest reference in this collection is the Luminor Quaranta BiTempo Goldtech PAM01641, offering a useful GMT function in a precious Goldtech case.

 

Goldtech is a gold alloy developed by Panerai enriched by platinum and copper, giving an intense red appearance and resistance to tarnishing that extends the timepiece’s lifetime. 

Framed by a 40 mm cushion-shaped case with the signature crown-protecting bridge and ensuring water resistance of up to 10 bar (~100 meters / 330 feet), the sun-brushed black dial has a sandwich structure composed of two superimposing plates, with the upper layer featuring cut out numerals and indices partially revealing the lower layer treated with white Super-LumiNova glowing green in the dark.

White Super-LumiNova is also used to fill the gilded hands, including the arrow-tipped GMT hand.

The small seconds display at 9 o’clock is visually balanced by a date aperture at 3 o'clock.

The timepiece also features a discrete minute track inspired by early 2000s watches. At 6 o'clock, the ‘BiTempo’ inscription, meaning “dual time” in Italian, remarks the Maison’s Italian roots.

The see-through sapphire crystal case back showcases the automatic P.900/GMT, a calibre operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). 

At only 4.2 mm thick, the movement is among the slimmest automatic calibres in the Panerai portfolio. The energy required to accumulate a power reserve of three days is delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel. 

A stop-second function enables precise time setting. 

The watch is paired with a black alligator leather strap with a brushed Panerai Goldtech trapezoidal buckle. Its PAM Click Release System allows for easy switching with the timepiece’s second strap in black rubber.
