Taking inspiration from the natural beauty of the Ore Mountains, Glashütte Original created a new version of its PanoMaticLunar model featuring a dial whose colour captures the intense shades of green of the coniferous forests surrounding the manufactory.
Produced in the watchmaker's in-house dial manufactory in Pforzheim, the dial of the new PanoMaticLunar has a colour gradient that starts from an intense dark green in the centre and changes gradually to black at the edges.
This unique and eye-catching result is obtained by first giving the dial a coat of galvanic nickel, then spraying the outer edge with black lacquer. The entire surface is then coated with transparent green lacquer.
The silver-coloured moon of the moon phase display is also crafted in Pforzheim. Two slightly convex moons are cut using a milling tool. Their surfaces are then polished with a diamond milling tool, which lends them a unique brilliance. An elaborate galvanic procedure produces the silver of the star-studded night sky.
Framed by a polished and satin-brushed stainless steel case with a diameter of 40 mm and a total thickness of 12.7 mm, the dial, with the characteristic off-centre positioning of the displays, is an expression of the Golden Ratio, a law of aesthetic harmony.
The auxiliary dials for hours and minutes and for the small seconds are placed along a vertical axis within the left half of the dial, while the Panorama Date appears at 4 o‘clock. The white gold hands with Super-LumiNova inlays form a sparkling contrast to the green of the dial.
The sapphire crystal case back showcases the beautifully finished Calibre 90-02 in-house movement.
Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering an autonomy of 42 hours, this movement sports the typical three-quarter plate construction enhanced by Glashütte stripe finish, blued screws and the hand-engraved balance cock with duplex swan-neck fine adjustment.

Matched to a brown nubuck leather strap with pin buckle (ref. 1-90-02-13-32-02) or foldover clasp (ref. 1-90-02-13-32-31) or equipped with a stainless steel bracelet (ref. 1-90-02-13-32-70), the PanoMaticLunar in forest green will be available worldwide from all Glashütte Original Boutiques as of June 2020 with retail prices starting from Euro 9,400. glashuette-original.com
