The Jaquet Droz SW (Sport Watch) collection expands with two new chronographs.
The new SW Chrono models are successful in emphasizing the sporty nature of the line with their imposing 45 mm stainless steel cases enhanced by satin-finished fluted bezels, hollowed lugs, easy-grip rubber push-pieces and crowns, and broad claws at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock to protect the case and crown from knocks. They offer water resistance to 50 metres / 165 feet.
The dials have a textured finish with vertical stripes and are available in two variations: midnight blue (ref. J029530540) and anthracite (ref. J029530541).
The signature figure 8 – formed by the hours and minutes display and the large seconds display – is replaced here by a central display of the time, with the chronograph’s central seconds hand, an hour counter at 9 o’clock and a minutes counter at 3 o’clock.
The hour markers are 18-carat white gold appliques while Roman numerals indicate 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. At 12 o’clock, the SW Chrono features a big date, a complication traditional in fine watchmaking but rarely found with a chronograph. More complex to produce than a simple date aperture, the large date offers superior readability.
The movement of choice is the Jaquet Droz 6885.Si-S self-winding mechanical movement featuring a 40-hour power reserve and a column-wheel. Visible through a sapphire case-back, this calibre is characterized by a ruthenium treatment and the efficient skeletonized oscillating weight in white gold.
To safeguard against magnetic interference, the Swiss brand has equipped this movement with a silicon balance spring and pallet lugs.

This looks pretty atypical for Jaquet Droz! Although I am not used to this bold lines, as a designer I see several interesting details.
