F.P.Journe - Vagabondage III

F.P.Journe Vagabondage III. F.P. Journe presented the third and last edition of the Vagabondage Series, the Vagabondage III, produced in a limited series of 69 pieces in platinum and 68 pieces in red gold. The Vagabondage III Series will be available in F.P. Journe Boutiques as well as authorised retailers with prices of Swiss Francs 54,000 / Euro 51,000 for the red gold version and Swiss Francs 56,000 / Euro 53,000 in platinum (prices before local taxes). Francois-Paul Journe 2017 novelties.
F.P. Journe presented the third and last edition of the Vagabondage Series, the Vagabondage III, produced in a limited series of 69 pieces in platinum and 68 pieces in red gold.

The watch follows the Vagabondage I and the Vagabondage II models. The name Vagabondage was originally chosen because the  time was indicated by a wandering digital display.

The Vagabondage story started in 2003, when François-Paul Journe designed 3 watches with a flat Tortue case (patented model), a digital time display and a brass movement, for the 30th anniversary of the Antiquorum auction house. The 3 watches - one in white gold, one in yellow gold, and one in rose gold, with brass movements - sold for three times the estimate. Following that success, F.P. Journe launched, in 2006, the Vagabondage I Series that was produced in 69 pieces in platinum and 10 pieces in platinum set with baguette diamonds, with a manually wound rose gold movement.

From left to right, the Vagabondage I and the Vagabondage II

The Vagabondage II was designed in 2009. Fitted with a manually wound movement with remontoir d’égalité and digital display, it featured small seconds at 6 o’clock and a power reserve display at 12 o’clock. The rose gold movement was visible through a smoked sapphire crystal dial, without the F.P. Journe signature. 69 pieces in platinum, 68 pieces in red gold and 10 pieces in platinum with baguette diamonds were produced.

Retaining the flat Tortue case and the same size of the Vagabondage II (45.2 mm x 37.6 mm with a height of 7.84 mm), the new Vagabondage III features a 3 Hz (21,600 vph) manually wound movement with a remontoir d’égalité that advances the time train each second.

The inner smoked sapphire dial, framed by a screwed "appliqué" outer dial, still without the F.P. Journe signature, reveals the 18 carats rose gold movement.

A window at 10 o'clock displays the digital hour while the second window at 6 o’clock indicates the digital jumping seconds, a world premiere.

Minutes are indicated by the central white hand. The power reserve, indicated by a blued steel hand, completes the dial indications.

The Vagabondage III Series will be available in F.P. Journe Boutiques as well as authorised retailers with prices of around Swiss Francs 54,000 / Euro 51,000 for the red gold version and Swiss Francs 56,000 / Euro 53,000 in platinum (prices before local taxes).

Collectors who own the Vagabondage II will be given priority to acquire the Vagabondage III, with the possibility to choose an example with the same limited series number. fpjourne.com

  1. Another masterpiece from the French maestro. Still prefer Journe timepieces in round cases but this is a marvel. And it looks very nice on the wrist.
