One of the most active brands with SIHH 2016 previews, Montblanc is now presenting the Heritage Chronométrie Twincounter Date, with a new date complication powered by the in-house developed and manufactured MB 24.23 automatic calibre.
Instead of using the traditional date aperture, the new Twincounter Date indicates the date in a counter at 3 o'clock whose size has been maximised to enable a clear reading of the graduating dates. The blued-steel hand contributes to excellent visibility.
The date counter is visually balanced by a small second subdial at 9 o’clock, with a blued-steel hand. For better symmetry, the '60' numeral is red like the '31' date.
While the design codes of the entire Heritage Chronometrie collection are inspired by the Minerva Pythagore model, the Twincounter Date in particular takes its inspiration from the classic double counter Minerva chronographs from the 1950s.
The silvery-white sunray dial features facetted sword hands and red gold-plated applied indexes with prominent Arabic 12 and 6 numerals.
The 40 mm polished steel case is 9.85 mm thick and features curved horns with satin-finishing on the inside surfaces. It houses a 4 Hz (28,800) self-winding movement with 38 hours of power reserve and offers a water resistance of 3 bar (30 metres / 100 feet).
Matched to an alligator leather strap made by the Montblanc Pelletteria, the Maison’s own leather manufacture in Florence, the Heritage Chronometrie Twincounter Date is certified by the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500 that simulates rigorous real-life situations for a total of 500 hours. The retail price is Euro 2,790. montblanc.com
