Pre-SIHH 2015: IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic. Among the IWC watch lines, the Portofino has always been the more understated. The new IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic - a Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie preview - makes no exception. The Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic is available in red gold gold-plated hands and indices (ref. IW511101) or in stainless steel rhodium-plated hands and indices (ref. IW511102).
Among the IWC watch lines, the Portofino has always been the more understated, basing its appeal on a minimalist design and discreet elegance. The new IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic makes no exception with a simple dial layout characterised by hours and minutes feuille hands, baton indices and XII and VI hour markers.
The case has a large diameter of 43.5 mm but the arched-edge sapphire glass contributes to make it look a bit smaller than it actually is. The total thickness is 12 mm.
In order not to disturb the clean design of the dial, the power reserve display has been moved to the back of the watch, where it can be seen through the sapphire-glass back.
The IWC hand-wound 59060 calibre beats at 28,800 vph and has a remarkable power reserve of 192 hours or 8 full days. Two large bridges conceal the rear of the movement almost entirely, leaving just the balance on view.
Bridges are decorated with Geneva stripes. The movement also features an indexless balance, which has four golden weight screws on the balance rim to facilitate precision adjustment. IWC's own seal of quality: "Probus Scafusia" certifies that the watch was thoroughly tested before leaving the factory.
Water-resistant to 3 bar, the Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic is available in red gold gold-plated hands and indices (ref. IW511101) or in stainless steel rhodium-plated hands and indices (ref. IW511102).
The high-quality straps are made exclusively for IWC Schaffhausen by renowned Italian shoe manufacturer Santoni. The Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic is available in an unlimited edition exclusively at selected IWC boutiques. iwc.com
