More than twenty years after its introduction, the Longines Master Collection undergoes its most comprehensive redesign since its debut in 2005.
While remaining faithful to the elegant character that has made it one of the brand's cornerstone collections, the new generation introduces redesigned cases, dials, hands, bezels and bracelets across four case sizes: 30 mm, 34 mm, 39 mm and 41 mm.
The 39 mm and 41 mm references are powered by the Longines Calibre L888.5, a self-winding movement equipped with a silicon balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetism and long-term precision.
Operating at 25,200 vibrations per hour, the movement provides a generous power reserve of up to 72 hours.
The sapphire caseback reveals the rhodium-plated oscillating weight and the movement's finishing.
Both sizes feature an entirely new dial distinguished by an intricate barleycorn pattern extending across its full surface.
Available in either silver or blue, the textured finish creates changing reflections under different lighting conditions while preserving excellent legibility.
Applied Arabic numerals replace the printed hour markers of previous generations, accompanied by newly designed hands finished either in blued steel or rhodium plating depending on the dial colour.
The discreet date window remains positioned at 3 o'clock.
The redesigned case also contributes significantly to the watch's new identity. A sculptural concave bezel frames the dial, adding visual depth while giving the case a more contemporary profile.
The 39 mm model measures just 9.05 mm thick, while the 41 mm version comes in at 9.50 mm.
Both stainless steel cases feature front sapphire crystals with multi-layer anti-reflective coating on both sides, transparent sapphire casebacks, and offer water resistance to 3 bar (30 metres / 100 feet).
The collection offers a choice between blue alligator leather straps fitted with a newly developed folding clasp incorporating micro-adjustment, or redesigned stainless steel bracelets whose shorter links improve flexibility and wearing comfort.
The bracelet is secured by a triple-folding safety clasp with push-button release and micro-adjustment.
The 41 mm range includes Ref. L2.950.4.73.2 (silver dial with blue leather strap), Ref. L2.950.4.73.6 (silver dial with stainless steel bracelet),
Ref. L2.950.4.93.2 (blue dial with blue leather strap) and Ref. L2.950.4.93.6 (blue dial with bracelet). Two additional references featuring Eastern Arabic numerals on a silver barleycorn dial further broaden the offering.
The 39 mm models comprise Ref. L2.949.4.73.2 (silver dial with blue leather strap), Ref. L2.949.4.73.6 (silver dial with stainless steel bracelet),
Ref. L2.949.4.93.2 (blue dial with blue leather strap) and Ref. L2.949.4.93.6 (blue dial with bracelet).
Alongside these two core sizes, Longines has also redesigned the smaller 30 mm and 34 mm models. These introduce a different interpretation of the barleycorn motif, confined to the outer portion of the dial, and are available with either full silver dials featuring applied Arabic numerals or white mother-of-pearl dials set with 11 Top Wesselton diamond hour markers.
Selected references combine stainless steel with yellow- or rose-gold-capped bezels, matching 18 ct gold crowns and coordinating hands.
The 30 mm models are powered by the automatic Calibre L592.5, offering a 45-hour power reserve, while the 34 mm references share the 72-hour Calibre L888.5 used in the larger watches.
The new 41 mm models are priced at €2,700 / US$2,750, while the 39 mm versions retail at €2,550 / US$2,650.
The 34 mm models are priced from €2,500 / US$2,500, and the 30 mm references from €2,350 / US$2,400. longines.com
