Ressence TYPE 11 debuts first in-house RW-01 fully integrated movement

Ressence introduces the Type 11, a new model that marks an important step in the brand’s development, centred on the introduction of its first in-house movement and a fully integrated display architecture.

Since its founding, Ressence has built its identity around the ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), a patented display replacing traditional hands with continuously rotating discs. In previous models (see, for example, our article about the Type 1² "Squared"), this system operated as a separate module mounted on modified third-party movements, requiring a clear division between the movement and the display.

With the Type 11, this architecture has been fundamentally reworked. At its core is the new Ressence Werk RW-01, the brand’s first movement developed specifically to power the ROCS. 

Designed from the outset as a unified system, the movement and display are now fully integrated, sharing components and forming a single mechanical entity. This configuration improves efficiency and coherence, while also refining the transmission of energy to the display.

The automatic RW-01 calibre operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 60 hours. 

Its construction departs from conventional round layouts, adopting a distinctive architecture organised around three key elements, including twin barrels and a central balance wheel. 

The movement comprises 67 gears, 40 jewels and 18 ball bearings, and is COSC-compliant. 

Manual winding and time-setting are performed via a caseback lever, eliminating the need for a traditional crown.

The ROCS 11.1 display remains central to the watch’s identity. 

Positioned on a convex Grade 5 titanium dial with a 100 mm radius, it features three eccentric satellites indicating hours, minutes and seconds, complemented by a power reserve display. 

This latter function is realised through a patented system using ceramic micro-balls: as the watch winds, lighter-coloured balls progressively replace darker ones, offering an intuitive visual indication of the remaining energy.

Further refinements include the use of titanium ball bearings within the ROCS module, enhancing durability while improving the smoothness and precision of the orbital display.

The Type 11 is housed in a polished Grade 5 titanium case measuring 41 mm in diameter, 11 mm in thickness and 45 mm lug-to-lug. 

Its pebble-shaped profile and the presence of lugs introduce more classical proportions compared to earlier Ressence models, while maintaining the brand’s characteristic ergonomic approach. 

The double-domed sapphire crystal, treated with anti-reflective coating, sits above the dial, while the caseback incorporates a viewing window onto the movement. Water resistance is rated to 3 ATM.

The watch is available in three colourways — Pine, Sky and Latte — each defined by specific combinations of dial tones, ceramic micro-balls and coloured seconds markers. 

It is offered with a choice of straps, including leather, rubber, a leather-rubber hybrid, and a titanium Milanese bracelet.

Comprising a total of 439 components and weighing approximately 49 grams including the strap, the Type 11 represents a consolidation of Ressence’s design language within a more integrated mechanical framework.

The Ressence Type 11 will be available from May 2026, with a price set at CHF 23,000 (excluding taxes). ressencewatches.com
