Inspired to the Ref. 765 AVI pilot’s watch (where AVI stood for “aviation”) of 1953 also known as the "Co-Pilot", the new Breitling AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is the brand’s second historical re-edition after the Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition presented last year.
Produced in a limited series of 1953 pieces, each of which will be numbered “ONE OF 1953”, the new model is powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a manually wound mechanical chronograph movement certified by COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) as a chronometer. Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph), it offers a power reserve of 70 hours.
The 41.1 mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 30 meters / 100 feet and is enhanced by a rotating bezel secured by three screws that are placed in precisely the same positions as those on the watch from 1953.
Protected by a domed hesalite crystal, the black dial features thin syringe hands and the same Arabic numerals as the 1953 Co-Pilot as well as hand- applied Super-LumiNova, whose colour has been carefully chosen to recall the luminescent material on the original.
Matched to a black vintage-inspired leather strap with a pin buckle, the Breitling AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition (ref. AB0920131B1X1) has a retail price of Euro 7,700.
Together with this Re-Edition faithfully reproducing the original, Breitling introduced two
AVI 1953 Edition models in precious metals.
The first is crafted in red gold with a black dial and a brown vintage-inspired leather strap. This model will have a limited-edition run of 253 pieces. The price of ref. RB0920131B1X1 is Euro 20,480.
The second model, available in a limited edition of 153 pieces, comes in platinum with a blue dial and a gold vintage-inspired leather strap. The price of ref. LB0920131C1X1 is Euro 38,000. breitling.com
