Water resistant to 50 bar (500 mt / 1650 feet), the new Oris watch is characterised by a shimmering sunray blue dial with a small second sub-dial at 9 o'clock.
The small-second function is often favoured by divers because while it shows that the watch is working, it doesn’t clutter the dial or reduce legibility.
The applied indices and nickel hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova. As the name of the watch suggests, the dial also includes the date indication at 6 o'clock.
The overall design of the stainless steel case is markedly masculine with a size of 46 mm and a large screw-down crown. The thick and scratch resistant sapphire crystal is domed on both sides, and treated with an anti-reflective coating on the inside to reduce glare and enhance legibility. The screwed stainless steel case back is enriched by a metre to feet conversion scale.
The unidirectional rotating bezel features a scratch-resistant black ceramic inlay and white timing scale.
The Aquis Small Second Date is powered by the Oris 743 calibre, an automatic mechanical movement - Oris does not use quartz movements in any of its watches - based on the Sellita SW 220-1 and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 38 hours.
