Mido - Ocean Star Captain Titanium

Founded in 1918 and based in Le Locle, the Swiss company Mido, whose name comes from the Spanish "Yo mido" meaning "I measure", is part of the Swatch Group (at the time SMH) since 1985.

The brand recently presented the Ocean Star Captain Titanium, a diver’s watch whose case and bracelet are made of satin-finished and polished titanium, a metal that is lighter and more resistant than stainless steel. The total weight of the watch is just 123 grams.

The 42.5 mm case is water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bars (200 metres / 660 feet) and is enhanced by the unidirectional rotating bezel featuring an anthracite sandblasted aluminium ring.

The grained anthracite dial is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal which, together with the Super-LumiNova treatment used for the hands and the applied indices, can guarantee optimal readability in most conditions. An aperture at 3 o’clock indicates day of the week and date.

The sporty nature of the Ocean Star Captain Titanium is highlighted by orange accents on the dial, bezel and seconds hand.

The watch is equipped with the automatic Mido Calibre 80 (ETA C07.621 base) beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering a remarkable power reserve of 80 hours. The movement is a COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) officially certified chronometer.

The case back is adorned with a starfish, the symbol of the Ocean Star collection.

The Mido Ocean Star Captain Titanium (ref. M026.430.44.061.00) has a retail price of Euro 1,060.
