Frederique Constant revisits one of its signature complications with a new generation of the Classic Worldtimer Manufacture. A cornerstone of the collection since 2012, this timepiece has evolved to become one of the Maison’s emblematic creations.
The latest evolution introduces several updates, including a redesigned 40 mm x 12.53 mm case, a new Manufacture FC-719 automatic movement with an extended 72-hour power reserve, revised dials without a date display, new colour combinations and a new integrated five-link steel bracelet.
The three-part case in polished stainless steel retains the classical proportions associated with the collection while reducing the diameter by 2 mm compared to the previous generation. It is fitted with a convex sapphire crystal featuring anti-reflective treatment, while the transparent case back reveals the movement.
Water resistance is rated to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet).
The Worldtimer display remains one of the defining elements of the watch. Designed to display all 24 time zones simultaneously, the indication relies on a city disc combined with a 24-hour ring divided into day and night sections through contrasting colours.
Frederique Constant has chosen to remove the date indication on this new generation in favour of a cleaner and more legible dial layout.
Behind the apparent simplicity of the display lies a compact world time module composed of just 24 components.
One of the practical characteristics of the system is that all functions are adjusted exclusively through the crown, eliminating the need for recessed correctors on the case side. Besides improving ease of use, this solution also contributes to the watch’s overall reliability and water resistance.
Two standard versions accompany the launch.
The first (ref. FC-719NN3H6B) pairs navy blue oceans and a matching city ring with continents rendered in a grey grained relief finish. Applied indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova and silver-coloured hands reinforce the contemporary character of the display.
This version is fitted to a new interchangeable five-link stainless steel bracelet combining brushed and polished surfaces.
The second interpretation (ref. FC-719BLW3H6) adopts a more contrasted aesthetic, combining gradient blue oceans with taupe relief continents and a white city disc.
Light reflections across the dial surface create additional depth, while the watch is paired with an interchangeable navy blue alligator strap.
Frederique Constant also introduces a limited edition of 88 pieces (ref. FC-719LBWD3DH6) featuring a diamond-set bezel incorporating 70 diamonds totalling 0.785 carats, complemented by 12 diamond hour markers on the dial.
This version stands out through its light blue sunray dial with silver-toned relief continents and is delivered with two interchangeable alligator straps in light blue and navy blue.
The new FC-719 Manufacture calibre was developed and assembled in-house by Frederique Constant. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movement comprises 193 components and 26 jewels.
The most significant update concerns the power reserve, which increases from 38 hours to 72 hours thanks to a longer mainspring and revised alloy composition.
Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the movement features traditional decorative finishes including sunburst Côtes de Genève, circular graining on the bridges and a satin-finished, snailed oscillating weight.
Despite the increased autonomy, Frederique Constant has managed to integrate the movement into a more compact case while maintaining the same operating frequency.
The new Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture 40 mm in stainless steel is priced at €4,995, while the 88-piece diamond-set limited edition is priced at €7,995. frederiqueconstant.com
