Pre-SIHH 2017: Jaeger-LeCoultre - Duomètre models with magnetite grey dials

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Duomètre collection will soon be enriched by three new interpretations of the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon, Duomètre Chronographe and Duomètre Quantième Lunaire models, all of them characterised by a magnetite grey dial with an opaline finish framed by a 42 mm pink gold case. The models will be showcased at SIHH 2017 (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, Geneva, 16-20 January 2017).

Duomètre Sphérotourbillon

Launched in 2012, the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon was the first tourbillon watch adjustable to the second thanks to the unique Dual-Wing movement architecture.

The small seconds can be reset to zero according to the flyback principle by using the push-piece located at 2 o’clock. A particular feature of the flyback is that it does not stop the function of the regulating organ. The small seconds hand is reset, and immediately continues its course. As a result, the watch retains maximum precision, accurate to one second, even while the time is being set.

A feast for the eyes, the tourbillon carriage performs a complete turn every 30 seconds with two combined movements - one around its axis and another around a second axis inclined at a 20° angle. The cage is machined from a single block of titanium to combine lightness and high precision. The cylindrical balance-spring, with its two terminal curves, beats with a concentric action that is impossible to obtain with a traditional balance-spring.

Duomètre Chronographe

Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced its Dual-Wing concept in 2007 with the Duomètre Chronographe which became the first wrist chronograph watch to operate without a coupling system to handle the stop/start time measurement functions.

In this movement comprising 445 parts, the first gear train is entirely dedicated to the time function (hours, minutes, seconds), while the second gear train is devoted to the chronograph function and features a 1/6th second jumping seconds.

Each of these two mechanisms is powered by its own barrel ensuring 50 hours of power reserve for the time and 50 hours for the chronograph.

The crown at 3 o’clock can be used to wind both barrels: turning the crown clockwise winds the time, and turning it counter-clockwise winds the chronograph.

Duomètre Quantième Lunaire

Arranged on the elegant and easily readable dial displaying hours, minutes, seconds, date and moon-phases, the Duomètre a Quantième Lunaire houses the innovative Calibre 381, a movement that, thanks to the Dual-Wing concept, offers exceptional chronometric accuracy even running such an elaborate complication.

Also in this case each of the two independent sources of energy - one supporting the measurement of time and the other the display of the functions -guarantee 50 hours of power reserve. jaeger-lecoultre.com
